Richard and Brian Cooper, sons of an Ontario songwriter, played in various bands throughout the late '60s, but the two finally formed a group of their own in 1971. They released three singles by 1974, but none charted until the band signed with Polydor the same year and released "Finally with You." Over this time, guitarist Darryl Alguire, drummer Glenn Bell, vocalist/guitarist Terry King, vocalist Charles Robertson and keyboard player Al Serwa joined the brothers.
