Simply Excellent
Electronic Arts Recording Studios has delivered yet another fantastic score to the videogame industry. Soaked in influence from the likes of electronic / industrial purists, KMFDM and Massive Attack, the original score of Mirror's Edge delivers a variety of electronic compositions from the melodic kaleidoscopes of progressive trance to the hard hitting riffs and cuts of techno-industrial. Together, the ten original pieces culminate to form a perfect representation of the emotional rollercoaster contained within the stoic main character of Mirror's Edge as she dashes from rooftop to rooftop, battling her way to the truth. If you are a fan of electronic music of any kind, this album comes highly recommended. Those who are not may be put off by some of the harder industrial beats(Jacknife, Ropeburn, Pirandello Kruger, Shard), but may also be drawn in by the softer, album balancing progressive tracks (Introduction, Edge & Flight, Boat). Thrown in for good measure is the enchanting voice of Lisa Miskovsky with her performance of "Still Alive," which, while simple in composition, is an excellent addition to the album. Despite what people may think of Electronic Arts as an organization, they continue to be the dominating force in videogame music and score composition. With a music catalogue comprised with the likes of SSX 3, Burnout Takedown, Dead Space, and many others, Solar Fields' work with Mirror's Edge has created a defined space within videogame score composition, and is nothing short of exemplary.
Good Amient Music
The game is great and so is the music. Great ambient and electronic music album.
