One At A Time The ballad collection 1996-2006 MSW-D101 [2007] Long regarded by critics and contemporaries alike as a ballad singer of considerable artistry and depth, George Evans has even been referred to as “a ballad's best friend.” But despite that bold pronouncement, the strictures of jazz radio have fairly well ensured that George's ballad performances aren't heard with the frequency of the livelier songs from his various albums. With that in mind, on the occasion of his 10th year in the recording industry, George has compiled these 14 ballads for fans and new listeners both, to underline his love of a gentler, more heartfelt approach to the art of song. These selections cover a period of 10 years; from the youthful insouciance of his debut release, Moodswing (recorded in 1996) to the more mature sound and style found on Bewitched (released in 2006) we know you'll find something here to enjoy, and perchance to love.
