Album Review

Combining grungy guitar riffs with drum'n'bass beats, Questamation is the Pendulum-esque debut album from Toronto duo Ash Buchholz and Jason Parsons, aka Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker. Produced by Matthew Von Wagner (Crystal Castles), the 2009 follow-up to their Welding the C:/ EP was released through their own independent label, Smashing World Records, and includes the single "Laces Out." ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi

Fantastic Album...

Having been hooked by Hollow Point and Porntostartrek from Welding the C:\ I picked up Questamation without hesitation, I'd already purchased the Laces out single so I knew there was one wicked track already, and I'm happy to report that the rest of the album does not dissapoint. I've been listening to the album for a few days now and I've become very attached to Cloudboy, Neurochemical Warfare, Anti-Venom, and my current favourite, Visionary Science Patrol. It's a strong album from start to finish, great pace and fun lyrics. Thanks U.S.S!!

Better than most, not better than them.

Questamation, in my opinion, is better than most records that could be put out by bands of today, however i personally believe it lacks slightly in comparason to Welding the C:/. The lyrics are different this time around, and tend to flow, and make sense, a new trend i'm not sure i am happy with. Instrumentation is brilliant. Overall, takes a few listens, but a sure buy for anyone

USS is Da BOMB

USS puts on one of the best shows ever. I have seen them 3 times and every time had a blast. Their music is very original! Ash and The Human Kebab really know how to play up the audience. "Mark my words; Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker are going to be huge. Not only does this duo create intelligent, catchy drum and bass pop songs, they also put on an unmatched stellar live performance." Sheena Lyonnais - Toronto Music Scene "Boo-Schultz and The Human Kebab emit a high-octane energy that spread through the Edgefest 2008 crowd. Reviews of the summer festival, which brought big name acts like Linkin Park and the reunited Stone Temple Pilots to the Toronto area, highlighted USS as the band that stole the show." Dan Schell - Bancroft This Week "One of the perqs of this job is that I get to hear records before they’re released to the general public. I just sat through Questamation from USS. Astonishing. Bloody astonishing. When Welding the C:/ came out last year, I was confused about how a band could emerge so fully-formed out of nowhere. Their sound, style and image were far more sophisticated that anyone might expect from such a new band. And a complete indie, at that. The new album takes everything they learned from the first EP and gives it all a titty-twister up to 11." - Alan Cross
