iTunes Review

Rivers Cuomo may never find the fountain of youth, but he’ll die trying. 2009’s Raditude is more looking back, looking forward while trying to remain young at heart. A smooth lick like “I’m Your Daddy” is reminiscent of the way Southern California punk bands in the ‘80s used to emulate the Beach Boys, while the Butch Walker co-write “(If You’re Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To” and “The Girl Got Hot” take the band’s powerchords and shuffle them through the R&B machine, turning the rhythms into cutting tools. Jermaine Dupri and Lil Wayne jump aboard for the rap-infused “Can’t Stop the Party.” It took four producers and four studios to pull this album together. Cuomo was clearly searching for different ideas and sounds to make it more than just another collection. For all his searching and experimenting, he’s still best when the tunes sound as if they’re flowing right out of him. The easeful cool of ‘Put Me Back Together,” the endearing harmonies of “Love Is the Answer” and the new-wave powerchords of “Let It All Hang Out” are pure pop for now and forever.

The Rock is gone with these guys. Dance pop Garbage is all this album is. Not worth the money

Not their best, but it's still Weezer - c'mon people

I liken this album to Pinkerton - not their best effort, but there's some solid gems and the record as a whole makes sense. And just like after Pinkerton, everyone bitched about how they "changed their sound". I don't understand the whiners who want Weezer to go back to their "old" sound. Weezer has always had the same sound, whether they're using synths or fuzzed out guitars - it's simple, catchy, riff-driven, straightforward music. Their themes are no different - toungue-in-cheek, lighthearted songs about girls, youth, rock, and bling.

If you're more than just a casual Weezer fan, you'll buy the album anyways and enjoy it because it's Weezer, and it's still 1000 times better than Rise Against, Bowling for Soup, Sugar Ray, or most of the other bands that "Listeners Also Bought"...

Freaky Styley

This album is full of happy pop-rock goodness! Faves are: Put me back together, Can't Stop Partying, In the Mall and The Story of My Life. Buy this!

Biography

Formed: 1993 in Los Angeles, CA

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

As one of the most popular groups to emerge in the post-grunge alternative rock aftermath, Weezer received equal amounts of criticism and praise for their hook-heavy guitar pop. Drawing from the heavy power pop of arena rockers like Cheap Trick and the angular guitar leads of the Pixies, Weezer leavened their melodies with doses of '70s metal learned from bands like Kiss. What truly set the band apart, though, was their geekiness. None of the members of Weezer, especially leader Rivers Cuomo, were...
