RICKY j started his musical career working in Montreal as a club MC. The DJ he worked with at the time was Kent "Majess" Austin. The pair soon teamed up to record some of their own party hip-hop tunes, hoping the demos would find their way into the right hands. Those hands were at Warner Music Canada.
