Album Review

The Same Old Blood Rush with a New Touch, the debut from Buffalo-based quartet Cute Is What We Aim For, is basically a product of the MySpace generation where hip self-assurance can lead to a record deal and a devoted fan base. And in the capable hands of producer Matt Squire (Northstar, Panic! at the Disco), bands like CIWWAF can be assured a polished album with catchy hooks and sweet melodies. One questions whether the band merely enjoys attempting cheeky doses of sarcasm or truly finds itself charming with lines like "I've got the gift of one liners/And you've got the curse of curves/And with this gift I compose words...are you perspiring from the irony or sweatin' to these lyrics?" CIWWAF also string along sentiments that often poke fun at their own existence and superficiality ("I spend more time in front of mirrors than any gent should/Because let's face it/One on one is more fun anyway"), and sharp scenester insight seems to be the point in the first place.

The next big thing

I keep telling everyone, Cute is what we Aim For is the next big thing. No more looking at Fall Out Boy or anything of that sort. They're old news... am I the only one tired of them? Cute Is What We Aim For rocks out loud. I love them. This album should be bought by you... NOW!

Teasing to Please... indeed

This is currently one of my favourite albums - Cute Is What We Aim For really nailed this album from start to finish. There isn't a single song on the album that I don't find enjoyable in some way or another. Songs to note: Risque, The Fourth Drink Instinct (deep lyrics, honestly), The Curse of Curves, and Moan. All in all, this band is a diamond in the rough. Definitely glad I bought this album.

...

I too have been waiting for SO LONG to buy this album, and it was worth the wait! The review makes them sound like a good for nothing band with NO talent at all, WHICH THEY ARE NOT! Cheak out they're music, you'll like it alot... Unless your a 50 year old man, then it's your loss. WH00T.

The emo-pop outfit Cute Is What We Aim For emerged from Buffalo, NY, in January 2005. Although originally formed as a quintet, the band ultimately stripped down to four members, with vocalist Shaant Hacikyan, guitarist/pianist Jeff Czum, drummer Tom Falcone, and bassist/guitarist Fred Cimato comprising the lineup. Wasting little time, the bandmates recorded a handful demos that landed them on Fueled by Ramen's roster before the year's end. Cute Is What We Aim For then hooked up with producer Matt...
