Timbaland’s star making productions for the likes of R&B artists like Aaliyah, Justin Timberlake, and Ginuwine have done much to define the sound of popular music over the past decade. Though contemporaries like The Neptunes and Lil Jon rival him in popularity, few producers have been able to blend hardcore dance floor appeal and challenging experimentalism with the skill and avidity of Timbaland. 2006 was something of a banner year for him, and the colossal success of Timberlake’s SexyBack and Nelly Furtado’s Loose raised anticipation for Shock Value to a fever pitch. Though some critics have expressed disappointment with Shock Value’s overwhelming eclecticism, foolhardy ambition has always been one of Timbaland’s saving graces. Who but Timbaland could conceive of the twisted Medtronic meet Miami Bass stomp of “Bounce” or the exhilarating, if possibly sacrilegious, take on Nina Simone’s “Sinnerman” that is “Oh Timbaland”? If Shock Value suffers from some poor decision making (see Fall Out Boy’s cringe inducing contribution to One and Only) the album contains more than enough redeeming moments to make it a worthy entry into Timbaland’s catalogue.

Oh, Timbaland...

The almighty Timbaland is unstoppable! He is an absolute genius. He produces hit after hit and this album is quite a showing for him. I figured this album would be crap like every other rapper's album out there, but what was I thinking? It's Timbaland! Shock Value is so good! It's a great album to listen to while you're driving and it's great to dance to, as well. I like the single Give It to Me and The Way I Are, however, Release is, by far, my favorite. It kind of has that SexyBack vibe to it. Good job, Timbaland!

this album is awesome, it has such a wide variety of featuring artists on it that it keeps it interesting. The best song on the album is Apologize feat. One Republic...now that is a band to keep an eye out for! I recommend buying the album for yourself and for all your friends, great album to enjoy with the warm weather...cruising with the windows down....you won't be disappointed!!

Is It Me,Or Are All Of These Songs By Other People?

Okay dude,you have a good voice and most of your songs rock-wheres the downside?Well,lets see.For one thing,almost every one of his songs aren't really "His" technically.The song "Give It To Me" should be listed as plain Nelly Furtado 'cos Timbaland had like 2 verses in it!Look-"Featuring......The Hives,Magoo,Amar&Jim Beanz,Keri Hilson&D.O.E.,One Rebublic,Justin Timberlake,50 Cent&Tony Yayo,Nelly Furtado,She Wants Revenge,Missy Elliot&Dr.Dre,Sebastian&Attitude,Money,Fall Out Boy,Elton John and Nicole Scherzinger!As I read all the artists names,i was shocked to find that only ONE Timbaland song was actully a solo.Goodness!To me The only songs worth buying are "Give It To Me"and"The Way I Are".Oh look,they are both featuring people!Oh well,at least they make up for a terribly lose effort from Timbaland!All i can say to these people being featured in this dudes music(which, as i said,is not really his)is to go solo.I mean That Nelly Furtado and Keri Hilson can really sing!Although Nelly Furtado is already a soloist,i'm telling her induvidually to get away from Timbaland because her songs would be alot better as solos(Sorry Timbaland! )-: )!So,to sum it up,all i'll say is this:Great music and powerfull vocals,downside is that those vocals aren't coming from this Dudes CD.He should be a featured person in more songs,not featuring in "His" own songs!Sorry if i offended anyone.Sad Face
