Great tunes, but....
As a huge fan of A.C. Newman and the New Pornos, I was quite pleased to see this EP appear on iTunes. TransCanada is a great song, but potential buyers should know that the rest of the songs are INSTRUMENTALS. Sorry for shouting, but I ran through the 30 second clips and didn't clue in before buying the album. No worries though, I'll just make up some words - my 8 month-old daughter won't mind.
Souvenir Of Canada EP
I was at work checking my email when I noticed there was a new A.C. Newman EP on itunes. The next 3 hrs of work was torture. I pretty much ran all the way home, 3 piece suit and all. I was surprised to hear only one song had lyrics, sung by A.C.'s niece Kathryn Calder, but not disapointed. It is, afterall, a soundtrack, and a fine one at that. Some songs are just a tease. Like 'flags', only 66 secs long! I need more! You'll need more. Anyway, I had this on repeat for 3 days now, highly recommended! Should hold you over till his next solo effort. Spin magazine once said, "Carl Newman should be required by law to release an album every month". I couldn't agree more.
Fantastic Addition to a GREAT movie!
I saw "Souvenir of Canada" at the Toronto Film Festival, and fell in love with both the music and the movie. This EP is a must for all New Pornographers fans. Go see the movie in theatres when it opens to see the music in action!
