Mute Math - Spotlight EP

Mutemath is definitely extending its music by using acoustic guitars, voice effects, claps, and tambourine without damaging its sound signature. They still have the same energy in this EP they had in their last album (a great one btw) and their live performances. 1) Spotlight is awesome; it is definitely radio friendly and builds on you if you do not like it at first. 2) Clockwork is a B-sides track and surprisingly their live rendition of this song is better. 3) Earlylight, though, blew my ears away. The drum beats are expressive, warm, engaging, and on point. The piano is wonderful. To me this song reminds me of the 70's rock and roll. 4) The Son Lux remix should not be taken too seriously as it should make you laugh a little. Overall, the sound of this EP is great and might be the new direction their upcoming album takes. I definitely recommend this EP.
