Another great work by the HBJBs
This album will succeed in bringing at least a smile to your face on every track. The musicality seems a level up on this one, with more intricacy and interplay between parts on a number of the tunes. The songs really show off the capability of the group throughout, and the closer you listen, the more you discover to enjoy. A couple of tracks seemed a bit dry at times as though the energy of the group got washed out a bit or that the tracks had a lot of takes to get what they wanted musically. Top quality throughout, and the energy and fun bursts out on the majority of tracks without a doubt. Even the more standard covers have little gems inserted to listen for.
Well worth the time and money to add to your library.
A class of their own
If you like a capella, you have a lot to choose from. Contemporary groups range from classic barbershop quartets to slicker R&B groups to musical comedy, but there in the middle are The Heebee-jeebees, who have opted to encompass it all, simultaneously taking it incredibly serious and having a blast while doing it. The result is this new album, which is not only their best yet (and a record of how much they've improved from good to great to awesome over the years), but is as the title suggests, a crazy sampling of a little bit of everything.
I think this is the perfect place for new fans, young or old, to meet the guys, but by ending with The Lion Sleeps Tonight, this is also an album made with their long-time fans in mind.
