Sweet Thing
Wicked band, big big BIG BIG, things coming there way!!! Excellent vocal articulation, great songs and wicked nice guys!!!!!
3 years waiting, and it certainly didn't let me down
Being a frequent visitor of Toronto, I have been able to see this local band grow. Since 2007, I have heard tracks like "Kite Fight", "Change of Seasons" (Glad to have seen it as last week's free iTunes download) and "Winter Night" being performed with such energy and charisma in small clubs, winning over new fans EVERY TIME, including me.
While this album may not live up to the absolute power of their concerts, their debut album certainly gives you a taste of what is to come. The aforementioned old favourites are enhanced with better production, and new additions like "Dance Mother", "Spider", and personal favourite "Lorraine", are just as infectious.
If you are looking for music to make you dance and clap, this is the album for you. If you appreciate a record with good production and musicianship, this is also an album to take a listen to. In the three years I have seen them perform, they have worked hard to win over crowds, and I'm sure they will win you over too.
On a side note, this album was sold out in 2 (!) of the downtown popular record chain stores, so it may not be a bad idea to get it from here!
I don't like bands, I like songs....
....That being said, I LOVE this band. I've never gotten so easily hooked as I have on Sweet Thing. Buy this album, you won't even consider regretting it. Then see one of their shows, you'll love them more (if that's even possible by then...). They are going to go far too, once the word gets out...
