Another gem

This album is a great followup to her first release. Songs are from the heart.

Amazing

A few months ago I was reading about this girl in Spin. They said to look out for her in the upcoming year and that she would be taking this folkish wave we've been having to another level. Last night she played a set in Toronto and having heard only one of her songs, I bought a ticket. Jessica has one of the most unique and beautiful voices I have heard in a long time. I left the venue with all of her records and am still utterly impressed by the set. I threw this record on today and it's just an amazing harmony of music. The songwriting is up there with the best and I have no regrets with buying it. Now I'm really in to folk music and listen to many artists, but this girl's voice has surpassed all of them and mumford and sons, tallest man on earth and Laura Marling have all taken a back seat to this women. You feel her pain and joy as she sings intelligent lyrics. Bottom line is this record is well worth the money. After the set she even came down and mingled with people for the better part of an hour, you just don't see that to often.

the real deal.

I was at the same show that Ryan S. speaks of at The Drake Underground in TO. I have to say it was a truly great set; beautiful, sad, smart, uplifting, dark, thoughtful, authentic and more. I had no idea what it'd be like and, like Ryan, previous to the show I'd heard only one track which was enough, I went based on that... so glad I did.
Just when you think you know everything... bam! there's someone (JLM in this case) who thankfully proves you wrong! again. love it.

A folk-influenced songwriter from Kent, OH, Jessica Lea Mayfield began performing with her family's bluegrass band, One Way Rider, at the age of eight.
