Album Review

Rhino's Tell the World: The Very Best of Ratt collects 20 tracks from the popular Los Angeles hard rock quintet's releases, ranging from the group's debut EP in 1983 to its self-titled 1999 comeback album. Fans who already bought 1991's Ratt & Roll 8191 have only the enticement of a couple of newer tracks like "Steel River" from 1997's Collage, 1999's "Over the Edge," and an MTV Unplugged version of "Way Cool Jr.," none of which are particularly memorable. That said, "Lay It Down," "Round and Round," "You're in Love, " "Slip of the Lip," "Wanted Man," and "Lack of Communication" are six of the best songs that the much maligned/beloved hair metal genre ever produced, and this collection, though padded with its share of misfires, is as good a retrospective of this talented band as you'll find anywhere.

Ahh The 80's

A must have for anyone who grew up in the 80's hair band era! Love it!

This Rocks!!

RATT is one of those bands that once you heard, you loved. The only unfortunate thing is that not a lot of people knew about them. I remember seeing them at an exhibition oce and fell n love with the music. A muist for all those who know...or don't know RATT!!

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE OLD TO LOVE THESE GUYS

I love RATT. And I'm still a teenager. They may not be very well known by my fellow classmates, but they are still good Ol' Hair Metal. I was so born in the wrong decade.

Ratt's brash, melodic heavy metal made the Los Angeles quintet one of the most popular rock acts of the mid-'80s. The group had its origins in the '70s group Mickey Ratt, which had evolved into Ratt by 1983; at that time the band featured vocalist Stephen Pearcy, guitarist Robbin Crosby, guitarist Warren DeMartini, bassist Juan Croucier, and drummer Bobby Blotzer. The band released its self-titled first album independently in 1983, which led to a major label contract with Atlantic Records. Their...
