Album Review
The hard-working Busta Rhymes feels he wasn't handled properly by the J label. He might have a case: 2002's It Ain't Safe No More was the first album he released that failed to reach the Top Ten of the Billboard album chart, and it didn't come close — it didn't even see the Top 40. Now on Dr. Dre's Aftermath, which is sort of a story, he also chopped his hair (as evidenced on the cover of an XXL issue and throughout the booklet of this album), and has had to deal with the death of his bodyguard, Israel Ramirez, who was shot on the scene of his video for the "Touch It" remix. Lead single "Touch It," released months ahead of the album, did well despite being a very polarizing club record. He gets a few hot beats here, including a couple from the boss of his label and one from the late J Dilla. Stevie Wonder and the late Rick James are two of the dozen-plus guests, and Busta remains the dominant voice throughout.
Customer Reviews
Busta Rhymes is a sell out,
This album should of had two discs, one disc for all of the new sounding Black Eyed Peas like songs such as "I Love my Chick" or "How We Do It Over Here", and another disc for all the classic sounding NY tracks such as "In The Ghetto" or "Don't Get Carried Away" because the album has both. I acctuly think this album is worth buying it's high quality, but it's also Busta Rhymes's crossover into the comercail world, with his singles such as "I Love My Chick" esspecaily, Touch It is pretty bad to. But it also has some classic sounding shyt, like "Been Though The Strom" is one of my favorite track of the year, New York S**t is very low quality of rap, but the hock is great, and the beat is all New York. In The Ghetto was one of the songs I couln't wait to hear, becuase it has "Rick Jame, B***h!" and I liked it, DJ Green Lantern gives us a simple beat, and Busta rips over it, and Rick James sample of the classic song "Ghetto Life" couldn't sound better. Goldmine, featuring Raekwon of Wu-Tang Clan sounds like a preveiw for Cuban Linx II it's a great track, but it shouldn't be on busta's album becuase it sounds completely Wu-Tang and it dosen't fit in with songs like "I Love My Chick". "You Can't Hold the Torch" was procuded by my N***a J Dilla (RIP) and it featurs Q-Tip of Tribe, witch brings us back to more of the classics like When Leaders of the New School and Tribe Called Quest did Scenario, now they reuin to make this track, Don't Get Carried Away sounds like Illmatic, it's a damn good track, and it featurs the King of QB NaS. This album is better than most people put it, it's labled fake because he's doing the biggie appraoch, Pop sounding singles and a real album.
NICEEEEE
I like to listen to 30 second samples of each song before buying an album. When I did it for this one, i wasn't too impressed but i bought it anyways. Similar to 50 Cent's The Massacre, if you listen to this album enough, you will raelllyy get to like it.
He's back!
Busta is back, as good as his original 1996 release and follow up album, this is it! get it now!
