Cirque de Take That

Once again teaming up with producer John Shanks, the boys followed up their massively successful album Beautiful World with this fantastic record. It was released the same day as that other Circus album by Britney Spears but completely overtook the top spot in almost every UK chart for weeks. This album debuted at number 1 and stayed there on the albums charts for a record-breaking amount of time. 'The Garden' is a stellar opening, I worried they would put the lead single first (Greatest Day), luckily they didn't. 'How Did It Come to This" is lead by Jason, who was never allowed to sing lead back in their 1990-96 run, this is Jason's second time singing lead on a track and he;ll definitely be doing more. The great thing about this grown-up boy band is that they aren't trying to maintain any kind of youth they once had; their music keeps to their age and they're not concerning themselves with writing the next big club hit (unlike the ever-sticky New Kids). Gary Barlow, Mark Owen, Jason Orange, and Howard Donald know who they are and know what they want for this band; you won't catch them ending their interviews with 'Peace" or "Word homeskillet."

Take That does it again!

I was a little skeptical if the guys would've been able follow up to Beautiful World, and they sure didn't disappoint with the Circus. This album is fantastic! Its different from their previous material, but also uniquely 'Take That-ish' in sound and style. Gary Barlow's voice is perhaps one of the best male singing voices around today. The songs on the album are well written, enjoyable, and can be replayed endlessly. Kudos to the boys and those who support them by buying their music!

An unexpected surprise

This was just one of the many albums that was lying around, along with the birthday presents. And if was only today when I rediscovered this cd. I've heard of them before, but never thought that I would like them so much!! I really love "Hold up a light" and "What is love", and the lead singer's voice. Take that is really fab! :)

Biography

Formed: 1990

Genre: Pop

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

As the most popular teen pop sensation in Britain since the '60s, Take That ruled the U.K. charts during the first half of the '90s. In strict commercial terms, the band sold more records than any English act since the Beatles, though the cultural and musical importance was significantly less substantial. Conceived as a British answer to New Kids on the Block, Take That initially worked the same territory as their American counterparts, singing watered-down new jack R&B, urban soul, and mainstream...
