Album Review

K'Naan's 2005 studio effort The Dusty Foot Philosopher was a monumental critical success: it earned the Canadian hip-hop artist a Juno Award for Best Rap Recording in 2006, and featured two singles, "Soobax" and "Strugglin'," both of which helped put K'Naan on the map as a respected Canadian hip-hop musician: a title that is held by few. The album was re-recorded live in 2007 and released as The Dusty Foot on the Road.

One of the best albums of the decade

I consider myself pretty jaded and pretentious when it comes to music, but listening to K'naan makes me excited about it all over again. He has been my favourite artist ever since this album was released. His work is just fantastic. His rhymes are clever. He's a great rapper. The diversity is magnificent - everything from a rap over splashing water to a kick-a*s rock/hip hop number. And I appreciate the use of acoustic and African instruments in places. Most importantly, the political messages are so important and so well-delivered. My only regret is that this brilliant album appears to have been born out of unimagineable suffering for its creator.

This Is The Beginning Of The Reincarnation Of Real Hip-Hop!

Thank you K'naan, I have been waiting for an artist like you for a while, since the only famous artists are sellouts, its nice to see a real "artist" for a change. Word.

What??

Where did K'naan come from? This is what makes music worth buying. Ive been a hip hop fan for 15 years and this is one of the greatest albums i have ever heard. Keep'em coming K'naan i will purchase all your music.
