Let's Do More!
It's been 7 years since Gord's last solo album -- Battle of the Nudes -- and nine since his masterpiece Coke Machine Glow (2001). The last Hip album -- We Are the Same -- seemed to be half a Gord album and half a Hip album (which was just fine with me!). There is something magical about the band from Kingston putting their heads together to make art, though it's also fascinating to see Gord's inner workings revealed unabashedly via these solo works! Favourite Song: The Hard Canadian (loved the acoutsic version heard at the Lightfoot concert, but the album version is even better!!! It ought to be a single NOW!!!). The Drowning Machine is also great -- dark and morose like Chancellor on Coke Machine Glow. Moon Over Glenora is eerie in these times when the ocean is quite literally "dead"... Love you Gord. Hope to see you in Hamilton on your festivals tour!

All I have to say is thank you Gord for sharing these songs with the world. As a mover is a great song and this album highlites the lyricist of Gord and his amazing journey into fatherhood ending with a touchy song that I understand includes his daughter on piano.

Great Album
I've had a chance to listen to this album a few times through. As with Coke Machine Glow, and Battle of the nudes, this album seems to get better with each listen - stand outs for me are Retrace (Gord really sounds good), The Dance and its Disappearance and The Drowning Machine. Moonslow is completely different, and starting to grow on me. Bottom line - this is another great album from a fantastic Canadian icon. Totally recommend it!
