Feel. See. Hear. Find Meaning.

The Happiness Project I first heard of it on the Facebook status of an amazing pianist I have long respected. His status said “(He) is listening to The Happiness Project by Charles Spearin. Amazing. Could be my musical discovery of the year?” I immediately Googled the project, found the description and background at http://www.happiness-project.ca/ I immediately knew this was a grass-roots project when I saw the album cover includes Braille printing and handwritten titles. To my delight, I was able to preview and download the album on iTunes Store. The composer, Spearin, shows in our everyday life, we blur the line between speaking and singing. Based primarily on casual interviews recorded on his front porch, he asked musician friends to play different instruments as close to the spoken “melodies” as possible and then arranged them into songs. The album is an eclectic and entertaining combination of jazz, thoughtful conversations with real people and a hunger for meaning. It is my happiness to hear, to share. Listen and enjoy “the music of everyday life.”

Amazing

I fell in love with the song Vittoria on the radio...and again when i bought this album!!!! i love it its soo creative!

awesome album!

I first heard about this album on vinyl cafe, and decided to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the music was. Sometimes, spearin just has the instruments play along to the speaker, but other times, a single phrase that sounds melodic is plucked out, and repeated to make a song. I find it amazing that these songs have taken inspiration from people talking. I'd recomend it to anyone!
