Album Review
With his sophomore album, The Old Prince, Kenyan-born and London, Ontario-based rapper and Polaris Prize nominee Shad (real name Shadrach Kabango) delivers another dose of smart, socially conscious, and often hilarious hip-hop that leaves no fool gladly suffered and no stereotype unscathed. Musically, Shad favors vintage soul and R&B samples, which mesh perfectly with his oft-touched-upon theme of trying to find his way as a black man in an affluent white environment.
