Awesome! (But not what you'd expect...)

After the disastrous DJ Shadow album I thought; "Well at least we can count on RJD2 for a wicked instrumental hip-hop/turntablism album". How wrong I was. But the thing is, we instead got an incredible alternative pop album with cool hip-hop/soul/funk production. If you liked the song "Making Days Longer" on Since We Last Spoke you'll LOVE this album. If you tended to skip that song, skip this album.

change is good.

think of it like this: you watch jim carey in the mask, ace ventura, and then bruce almighty. great. he can do comedy. and then eternal sunshine of the spotless mind comes along and your like wtf; where did that come from? brilliant. the third hand is rjd2's eternal sunshine. and i realize i just compared rj to jim carey- weird... i know. we all know rjd2 can do hip hop. this album just shows how rad eclectic rjd2's music is. if he can go back and forth banging with el-p, aesop rock, and cannibal ox from def jux one day- to mia, vampire weekend, and radiohead from xl recordings the next- he's doing something right. this is by far one of the most refreshing albums to come out all year. and to all you haters out there maybe you should listen to this album in a couple more years- you might be able to appreciate music by then.

Not another Dead Ringer

respect to rjd2 for going in a new direction with his records. but I can't say it's his best. beats are amazing as usual... but lacks the trip hop feel of his other albums.
