iTunes Review

Brad Paisley offers up more clearheaded mainstream country music that’s still plenty country. His album title doesn’t lie. Guests such as Alabama, on “Old Alabama,” Don Henley on “Love Her Like She’s Leavin’,” Sheryl Crow, Marty Stuart and Carl Jackson on “Life’s Railway to Heaven” and Clint Eastwood whistling on “Eastwood” make for as much a party as an album. The harmonies are tight throughout and the songs are vivid with details. “A Man Don’t Have To Die” is a powerful piece of reality. “Remind Me,” a duet with Carrie Underwood, is a great showcase for both vocal talents. The pedal steel is always crisp as are the electric guitars. There isn’t a type of song that Paisley can’t work with. “New Favorite Memory,” with a prominent organ, is a thrilling mid-tempo that recalls country music radio of the ‘70s. “Don’t Drink the Water,” with Blake Shelton, is an upbeat country rocker. “I Do Now” is a strong ballad. For a mainstream country act, you can do no better.
