iTunes Review
Where it once seemed that T-Pain might turn out to be nothing more than a charlatan with an Auto-Tune, Thr33 Ringz confirms his place as one of pop music’s most imaginative and idiosyncratic personalities. As a producer, T-Pain has grown to the point where his beats are now fleshed-out canvases flush with rainbow synths, vocal effects, and skittering drums. “Blowing Up,” “Superstar Lady,” and “It Ain’t Me” are chock full of charm and dazzle, but they have a fleet-footed touch that outmodes the competition. Even on seemingly pedestrian songs he tucks in little musical surprises like the a capella breakdown in “Freeze.” “Keep Going” and “Karaoke” feel like T-Pain’s attempts to prove that he can sing and rap without the Auto-Tune, but in truth, he has no reason to worry. For him the Auto-Tune isn’t so much a gimmick as it is a tool that he's used to create a fully-realized style for himself. The best songs here, “Can’t Believe It,” “Therapy,” and the truly awesome “Chopped ‘n’ Skrewed,” show T-Pain still perfecting an art that, while widely imitated, belongs wholly to him.
Customer Reviews
T-Pain proves he IS the Ringleader, Man, just not the best show in the circus
I won't bother reviewing the skits, they're just an added bonus. Ringleader Man - 4.5/5 (one of my favourite tracks, really soulful, by T-Pain's standards) Chopped 'n' Skrewed - 4/5 (meh, I like it, but it's not my favourite.) Freeze - 5/5 (awesome track) Blowing Up - 4/5 (alright, nothing extraordinary) Can't Believe It - 5/5 (love the chilled out beat!) It Ain't Me - 5/5 (TI = God) Therapy - 10/5 (scratch that, Kanye = God) Long Lap Dance - 5/5 (funny song, also pretty chilled out) Reality Show - 4.5/5 (love this one, good concept on the lyrics) Keep Going - 5/5 (love this one too!) Superstar Lady - 4/5 (good, but not great) Change - 5/5 (probably the most politcally-driven song ever written by T-Pain and I LOVE IT!!!) Digital - 4/5 (meh, lacklustre) Karaoke - 5/5 (For anyone who downloaded Pr33 Ringz, you all know T-Pain can rap. This just re-affirms what we already know.) Distorted - 4.5/5 (nothing outstanding, just solid T-Pain) Bad Side - 5/5 (absolutely love this tune) Phantom - 5/5 (haha, best concept on the album, in terms of lyrics) Far better than anything T-Pain has ever released. This assembly of a vast array of musical giants proves he is the Ringleader Man.
Thr33 ringz two stars
Alright, T-pain has some ok songs (not exceeding thr33 stars) but his voice has been lost in the whirling dirvish of autotune, a) all of the songs sound exactly the same b) no one knows what t-pains real voice sounds like c) there are no songs that really stand out as hits unlike lil wayne's the carter three where the majority of the songs were huge b) I can't stress how similar each song is to every other song on the album bottom line: if you don't belive me listen to the samples t-pain should stick to doing choruses in songs like "I'm so hood" or "Got Money"
All the same
K every one of these songs sounds the same and none of them are catchy like his old stuff. Not worth it.
