Sounds pretty good...for a soundtrack

I am a huge daft punk fan, and i was hoping this soundtrack would live up to my expectations. Finally not so much, but it is important to mention that it is a soundtrack for a movie and not an original daft punk album. Most of the album sounds a lot like a hollywood superhero movie soundtrack, but there are a few tracks who are typical daft punk and i'm happy to finally hear new stuff, such as ''Son of Flynn'' and ''Derezzed''. Overall, the album sounds very good, just note that it is Tron before it is Daft Punk!

Dark, atmospheric, moody, Daft Punk have grown up!

Very nice orchestral's over-lapping signature Daft Punk elements. The boys did a real nice job at this. Listen to it as a hole piece. Won't be some people's cup of tea though. Some were expecting a full on dance/electronica album. This isn't for those people. It's a definite film score to the end. It's great mood listening music. Kinda electro-gothic sounding in some parts with the dark booming orchestral strings. Can't wait to see the movie with visuals to go along with the music. Here's to see how they incorporate this into the live shows in 2011 and hopefully a new studio album to go along with it.

Torn!

Daft Punk is an amazing group and i have been a fan of their work, so when I heard that they were doing the soundtrack to Tron I was thrilled! However I am torn between my verdict on this album because as much as I want to enjoy it, it's not true to Daft Punks style or sound. Derrezed and the game has changed are the best tracks off the album but then again it makes up for 6 minutes of the whole album! I almost feel bad for not liking this album but simply cannot urge myself to relisten to it because it is boring! Therefore for a soundtrack of possibly one of the biggest movies of the year, it is good. Would I recommend it for other Daft Punk fans like myself to buy it, no because it tarnishes their reputation of being an amazing group! And that is why I an torn about Tron!

Years Active: '90s, '00s, '10s

In similar company with new-school French progressive dance artists such as Motorbass, Air, Cassius, and Dimitri from Paris, Parisian duo Daft Punk quickly rose to acclaim by adapting a love for first-wave acid house and techno to their younger roots in pop, indie rock, and hip-hop. The combined talents of DJs Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, the pair's first projects together included Darling, a voiceless indie cover band; their current recording name derives from a review in U.K....
