iTunes Review

Working Men is a live album compiled from three previous live releases, Snakes & Arrows Live , Rush In Rio and R30, with “One Little Victory” as the one previously unreleased track. An unusual move, but it does settle any scores over whether or not Rush is still a capable live band. Though their studio albums are brilliant conceptual pieces, the band prides themselves, rightfully so, for their ability to bring it to the stage. Unlike many veteran bands, Rush has not lost their precision or aggressive edge. They remain a virtuostic power trio, with guitarist Alex Lifeson forever the band’s unsung hero despite an arsenal of memorable solos. There’s no mistaking the manic, meticulous drumming of Neil Peart as he slashes through fan favorites such as “Tom Sawyer,” “Limelight,” “The Spirit of Radio” and “Freewill.” Singer Geddy Lee shifts from bass to keyboards for their teen-alienation anthem “Subdivisions.” The trio pull off the tricky time signatures of “YYZ” and the orchestral grandeur of “2112.”

get real

I'm a lifelong Rush fan...have all their stuff. But seriously, how can anyone take these guys seriously when all they do is release and re-release material. I mean, any Rush fan already has these tracks, several times in fact: there's absolutely nothing new here so why waste our time and why should we waste our money. Come on Rush: release something we actually do want - NEW MATERIAL!!

Live Rush is the Best

I have always been on the fringe as a Rush fan. Once I saw them live, I have seen them very differently. Their experience shows through when they play live. Every song seems even better than the original album. If you haven't bought a Rush album, go for a live one like this one. I think it is a great way to experience Rush!

An perfect introduction to RUSH live

First off, I DID NOT BUY THIS SET LIST!
That said, what's been recorded in the studio and what makes it to the stage are often two very different things. So here we have the perfect cross section of RUSH Live without the more eccentric tracks that might "clutter" the disc.
Clearly aimed at the new RUSH fan, RUSH are by no means a money grubbing bunch and retain total contol over what's released and what's not. So this is a way for the new RUSH fan to dig in and enjoy some the bands early complexities.

The only gaff is that the iTune music guy obviously didn't do his homework. He/She states: "One Little Victory was previously unreleased". One Little Victory is on both the Vapor Trails RUSH in RIO Live AND Snakes & Arrows Live.
So with that exception, this offers the younger fan a great place to start in on the older material.
5 STARS!
