Attack in Earth Tones
This is an excellent lo-fi folk-rock record. It has the same organic, home recorded feel as Curve of the Earth, and it can be safely said that Attack in Black has moved away from their agressive hardcore punk sound. It's cool to see their body of work maturing with age. They've traded in their electric instruments for acoustic guitar and whirling organs in most of the songs on this album, making it sort of reminiscent of the work of label-mate and friend City & Colour (Dallas Green) but also in many ways reflects the influence of noise rock bands like Eric's Trip. That being said, it would have been cool to see how some of these songs might have sounded if they were arranged in the style of the songs on Marriage or even Widows, but you'll likely see that happening at their live shows.
Great Direction
Its literally what you would get from combining Curve of the earth with Marriage, they could not have picked a better direction. Chances are it will only take you a listen or two to really enjoy it. Purchase the album.
One Of The Best Albums I've Ever Heard
Wow! At 1st when I listened to the song samples I thought that this really sucked. Then I decided to give it a chance and now I can honestly say it's one of the best records I've ever heard. All the songs are just so simple and mellow. AIB is for sure one of the best bands to come out of Canada.
