Not just another review headed south
Ignoramuses, you're all about to be informed. I have reviewed 1 other app or 2 at most. But I seriously feel I have to try to give this app a proper, facts-based review because this app is most definitely not a 2-star app. Most of the reviews here are ignorant, incompetent, or just plain stupids doing stupid. What are you people sniffing and what direction are you going so I can run the opposite way?
1. Under settings within the app, it clearly explains both of the ONLY plans the app offers: $5 for 10 HOURS of mobile bell tv and/or $5 for 10 HOURS of mobile hbo tv. An additional $1 PER HOUR should you wish to watch more... Oh and call Bell to add the plan(s) directly because the part about adding it yourself from within the app DOES need to be 'fixed' still. I know because I called them- you know, instead of taking out my would-be frustrations through an app review. Not many apps you can call and promptly speak to their customer service BTW!
2. NOWHERE does the app state you are billed as per DATA usage. The plans are labelled 'data plans' but after minimal incentive in speaking with bell's customer service, you will discover usage is tracked by HOURS, not data!!!! Additional usage is $1 per HOUR. Does NOT say $1 per data i.e. MB or GB. Rocket science, think not!!
3. This app does NOT work via wifi because otherwise bell would not be able to track your usage! Bell is one of Canada's 3 network GIANTS, or did you weirdos mistake them to be in the business of suddenly giving away their service for free? Uh no, April fools' day has come and gone folks. Plenty of online sites that let you watch 'free' ad-bombarded movies/shows if that's your cup of tea, where have you been?... Otherwise keep your wifi OFF because this is how bell can track your 'hours' of usage. Get it already?? Keep wifi on (keep dreaming you can get free bell programming), then the app simply doesn't work and will not play anything with wifi on.
4. If you don't love any of these details pertaining to the use of this mobile tv app, cry yourself a river?? Simpler: don't use this app? Pity over whining over another app you couldn't properly review its FAQ first before throwing up on here... -....-
5-stars from me. This app serves its purpose for my needs and well enough. Perfectly- I will add- for when entertaining the small ones on the go!!!! As for my own preferably big wide TV entertainment, I can wait until I'm in front of a 'real' television with true dish satellite hookups. (Really?? Some of you crying about restricted content? It's an app, not bell's HOME tv programming!!!!!)
6. This BELL app does NOT require you to have bell's satellite dish service nor it's internet service to 'qualify' being able to use their mobile tv app. Painfully obvious that the APP is free to download but yes they have data plans of $5/10hrs! Take it or delete it, Sherlock. Finally, YES you do need to have their wireless service aka bell mobility network...
FYI. This isn't a blue versus red anything. Personally, I have bell's wireless network service and none of their home services. Bell because at the time, their iPhone promotion was better than Rogers' offer... I ALSO have Rogers servicing my tablet and this was because at the time, I got a better price for the toy online versus in store. No nonsense.
666. Back to the facts ...Unlike ROGERS!!? Rogers' very own Live Tv mobile app requires you to be a customer of BOTH their cable and internet to qualify benefitting from their wifi-enabled app. Oh yeah- you have to connect your Live TV app to the wifi associated with your ROGERS internet account in order to be able to use it. Layman's terms: no Rogers home internet/wifi near you means NO rogers Live TV for you. No brainer!! Now can you really call that a "mobile" service? Yet some of you shmucks think it's worthy because the APP is thoroughly free?? That's what I call a joke on all of you jerks blowing a load on here; you can't read bold print, nevermind fine.
Thank you for your consideration!! Personally, this app serves a key function for me. For $5, the kids have 10 hours of mobile Dora and friends every month in between appointment waiting rooms, waiting in traffic, and waiting for piano lesson to open its door for the 6:30 class!!
