About Cults

Cults is an American indie-rock band known for their moody and atmospheric brand of experimental pop. ∙ The group was formed in 2010 by singer Madeline Follin and multi-instrumentalist Brian Oblivion, who met while attending college in New York City. ∙ “Go Outside,” included on Cults’ self-titled debut EP, became a viral hit in 2010 that led to a deal with Columbia Records. ∙ Their self-titled debut album reached No. 14 on Billboard’s Alternative Albums chart and was named one of Pitchfork’s Top 50 Albums of 2011. ∙ In 2019, “You Know What I Mean” was prominently featured in an episode of the TV series Russian Doll. ∙ Cults’ 2020 release Host reached no. 44 on US iTunes’ Top 100 Alternative Albums chart.
