Biography
Canadian-born R&B vocalist Keshia Chanté makes sultry and catchy contemporary pop and soul. Born in 1988, Chanté has pursued music beginning around age 15 with her chart-topping singles "Shook (The Answer)," "Unpredictable," and "Bad Boy," all of which were included on her 2004 self-titled debut album. That same year, she garnered several Urban Music Awards and saw her video for "Bad Boy" begin to receive heavy rotation on the U.S. television network BET. Such accolades, along with a 2005 JUNO Award for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year, brought her to the attention of Sony record execs, who signed her to a recording contract. Subsequently, Chanté relocated from Toronto to New York City and began work on her sophomore effort, 2U, which dropped in Canada in 2006 and the U.S. in 2007. Chanté returned in 2011 with her third studio album, the two-disc Night & Day, featuring the singles "Table Dancer" and "Test Drive."
