Rotten: Cars 2 demonstrates that not every hit movie merits a sequel.
Fresh: "Cars 2" teaches gentle kid-friendly lessons about the importance of friendship and being yourself and introduces some great new characters in its parallel spy drama and auto racing plots.
Rotten: They said it couldn't be done. But Pixar proved the yaysayers wrong when it made its first bad movie, "Cars." Now it has worsted itself with the even more awful "Cars 2."
Rotten: As lovable as Mater is, let's face it: A little bit of Larry the Cable Guy goes a long way.

Awesome!
I'm 15 and I loved this movie.
Thought it was as good as the first one. The new characters are cool and it's funny. My recommendation: Watch it!
If you like Pixar, Don't listen to the criticism.
I'll say this isn't really what Pixar is known for, but the thing is, it doesn't need to be in order for someone to like it. I think it would of been better for the score to land at 62%. A movie like this most likely isn't going to affect Pixar's reputation as the studio that everyone love in its entirety. The way it was left at the end i think is a way to open possibilities for better future films. Simply put, if you like what Pixar is known for, it wouldn't hurt if you like this film or not. I think it looks visually dazzling and the music fits the action perfectly. i'd get it.
Why do they always say Cars was a bad movie? This one was!
Cars is/was one of my kids favourite movies. And I will say it. I LIKED IT and could watch it with them. I can't say that about all Cartoons. I'm always surprised when the critics say they don't/no one likes it. It was cute, had love, taught caring and family values, showed how one could change and not be self centered, it had NASCAR.... which I actually don't care for per se, but the movie made it fun.
Cars 2 was painful. Mater took the show and although the kids had fun you could tell it didn't have the same affect on them that the first one did. It was upsetting for them to see (spoiler alert!!!) a car blow up (you don't actually see it, but they picked up on it and talked about it after... these cars are alive after all... I think....Herbie was alive... right?) an die. Things that happen in this movie didn't really need to be in a kids movie. It did have some friendship dealings (mater I'm mad at you, Mcqueen you smelled like cheese but I still like you, ok mater you're ok now my friend...) but the Values were lost on my kids and they didn't grasp it like the first one. It was disappointing, but not unexpected. This fomula has been tried too many times in kids films and it needs something fresh and new. As King Solomon said "there is nothing new under the sun". And as Mater said "My tongue is on fire."
