Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: Fans will gorge on this deft, year-by-year portrait of the ultimate enduring cult band. And even a skeptic may come away with an affection for the intricate labor of Rush's skewed-time-signature epics.
Fresh: Dunn and McFadyen have done Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart the service of resolving their eventful, four-decade career. It's a smart, lyrical, often funny movie.
Fresh: A wonderfully engaging and genuinely interesting career profile of Rush, those most derided of prog-rock shriekers, tracing their path from anonymous Toronto suburbia to self-effacing power-trio legends.

Great music, brilliant documentary, impossible story!
A great story of three guys from the Toronto suburbs who became the greatest cult band of all time. I wasn't much of a Rush fan before, but this documentary is brilliantly executed to appeal to any children of Canada, or just anyone who has a dream to reach the top of their game.
If you weren't a fan of Rush before this film, you very well might become one like I have.
Not only Rush fans but Rock/metal/music fans, this is for you.
This documentary is clearly made for Rush fans. It documents their journey from the very beginning until today. It is not a concert film except to show live clips of their various ages and stages. I confess I was not a Rush fan. I was in to pop music so I never heard their stuff, and so the only song I remember was Closer To the Heart. It was their incredible staying power that garnered my curiousity. These three guys are awesome. It is wonderful to see such hard work and dedication rewarded. This would embarass them and piss off Neil, but these guys are indeed role models for anyone looking for someone to emulate(sorry again Neil, but it's true). These guys own their instruments! Wow! But, in the end, it hit me, what I enjoyed most is that these guys are real men...responsible, dependable, professional, hardworking, humble, genuine, and Canadian. They touched my heart...I am a fan.
Real People
The mystique which surrounds rock legends is well known. However these guys are where they are today because they worked very hard to be where they are. They are no different than you and I. They come from working class homes and they worked diligently until fame and fortune found them. They have a sense of humour and they never lost sight of who they are amidst the panic and confusion of stardom.
This movie proves that if you plug away at something long enough anything is possible. They are more than an inspiration. They are an example for generations to come. The best part is....the music is absolutely moving. Thank you Rush for all the wonderful years, for providing the sound track to my life and for all that's yet to come.
We are proud of you and devoted fans for as long as you'll pump it out. Go Canada!
