Plot Summary
30-something couple Sophie and Jason are lost in mediocrity, clinging to dead-end jobs and plagued with unrealized dreams. When they decide to adopt a stray cat their perspective on life changes radically, literally altering the course of time and space. The cat becomes a source of anxiety and illumination in Miranda July's latest heartbreakingly charming film.

Top Critics' Reviews
Fresh: At some point, we knew, this sui generis storyteller would return and grace us with another dose of her delightfully peculiar worldview. Now that The Future has become the present, July doesn't disappoint.
Rotten: Overly precious poetic examination of a couple's eccentric attempts to evolve their lives will appeal to a rarified few.
Fresh: The notion that both this movie and "Battle: Los Angeles" could come out of the same place, in the same year, is a startling tribute to the city.
Fresh: The movie doesn't have much of a motor. But I like a lot of it, line to line, and I admire where we're left at the end.

the Future
Miranda July did a great job. This film is not a cookie cut out and doesnt follow the rules for a movie. its weirdly fascinating and fun to watch. the acting is really well done, and the cat is really cute. Miranda does the cats voice, and its just so cute you want that cat!
overall, the film is a weird comedy and a good reflection of mediocrity and modern problems for urban 35 year olds. I really connected to this story.
So inventive.
Really enjoyed this.
The only theme I liked in this movie was the cat
Weird and depressive movie, watched most of it in fast forward
