The big Canadian Chillout continues, with this follow-up collection of tunes guaranteed jellify limbs, satisfy minds and massage souls. Feist sets the tone with her homage to harmony, "So Sorry," Cowboy Junkies explore the outer boundaries of possibility in the mellowest of fashions on "Dreaming My Dreams with You," and Calgary experimentalist Chad VanGaalen puts woodwind and string to surreal, soporific use on "Sing Me 2 Sleep." Never one to over-egg a pudding, Ron Sexsmith achieves chillout excellence within the 1:30 of his blissful "Spiritude" while, conversely, Adham Shaikh takes his time to build a temple of ambience on the bass-and-flute foundations of "Deep Dream Meme," which clocks in at a leisurely eight minutes. Ramachandra Borcar takes a similarly unhurried approach to the jazz-leaning "Lakeshore Drive," written for the 2004 architecture documentary Regular or Super. It was all going on at "Echo Beach" back in 1980, but things have eased up since then for Martha & The Muffins, who have given their new wave classic a half-speed overhaul titled "On a Silent Summer Evening." It should put you in the mood for a cocktail or two, shaken or stirred to the languid tempo of "Interstellar Spy Story (Solus Remix)" by the Verbrilli Sound, or "The Finaciers of Samsara" by Verbrilli splinter-project, Telefuzz.

As music has evolved, the concept of "chilling out" has become increasingly allied to electronica, but it wasn't always like that — who says you have to go digital to chill?
