Drummer Sly Dunbar and bassist Robbie Shakespeare are rumoured to have played on 200,000 songs over the course of their 30-year partnership. Widely known as "the Riddem Twins," they began as Jamaican session musicians, the release of Culture's Two Sevens Clash turning them into extraordinarily in-demand producers. Sly & Robbie eventually formed their own production company and record label, Taxi, which released a steady stream chart-topping hits and incredible dub "plates," including the now-classic Raiders of the Lost Dub. Their signature style has consistently defied genre limitations, gracing tracks by artists ranging from Joe Cocker to Joan Armatrading to Grace Jones.
