Engadget HD Podcast 277 - 12.06.2011 | We've been talking about initiatives with the potential to change how we watch TV and now, one of them is finally ready to launch. We spent a lot of time going over Microsoft's new dashboard for the Xbox 360 and what it could, but probably won't, do to the market. Of course the folks in Redmond aren't the only ones with something to show as we also cast an eye towards new iPad apps from Dijit and Cox, as well as the possibility we'll see DirecTV's HR34 Home Media Center DVR this week. Other topics include the cable companies getting out of wireless, Lovefilm switching from Flash to Silverlight, and Time Warner's tablet app arriving on Android. Engadget HD Podcast 273 - 11.08.2011 | Flowing through this week's packed lineup of topic is a theme of Hollywood vs. new technology, whether it's CBS against a new Apple TV service and Hulu or the MPAA v. Zediva. As much as wrangling over licensing causes us headaches there are some (potentially) positive developments to mention with new cable choices spreading in Canada, new features on the way from DirecTV, and Time Warner's tablet app coming to Android. On the hardware side of things it appears AMOLED may be ready to replace ZScreen as next year's vaporware tech of choice -- is there any chance we'll be able to buy either one any time soon? We'll close things out with a look at the latest cameras from RED and a look back at the first "high definition" broadcasts before discussing what we'll be watching (and playing) this week. Engadget HD Podcast 272 - 11.01.2011 | A year after its debut, Google TV is finally getting a fresh UI, its first taste of Market apps, and all-new Honeycomb underpinnings, so naturally that gets most of our attention this week. Of course, it seems like everyone is doing what they can to shake up the TV industry, putting Sony, Roku, Plex, Microsoft, DirecTV, and Redbox in the news as well. The one common thread joining these companies is that they can't do it without content, and it appears Warner Bros. and other studios may be locking the windowing gates tighter than ever. Engadget HD Podcast 268 - 10.04.2011 | Check your Bingo squares -- we have a full on geek rant this week. While DVBLink's Boxee extender engendered nothing but peaceful conversation, we couldn't help but dig into the next two topics. Rumors of Microsoft's efforts to integrate cable TV into a unified search with its other Xbox offerings continue to swirl, which left us wondering just who is standing in the way of innovation. Meanwhile, the cable companies and content providers are at odds over how to distribute their channels with little thought given to the end user's experience. Engadget HD Podcast 264 - 09.06.2011 | This week's Labor Day podcast is here, squeezed between IFA last week and CEDIA this week. Of course, all those balls in the air gave us plenty to talk about, not the least of which included definitive word on the status of Media Center in Windows 8. DirecTV's new UI in testing and latest channel addition also made for interesting discussion as well as expansions internationally by Hulu and Netflix. IFA dumped some unexpected 3D hardware in our laps in the form of Toshiba's ZL2 and Sony's HMZ-T1 -- we'll see which one is the bigger draw this holiday season. Engadget HD Podcast 263 - 08.30.2011 | We had plenty to talk about on this week's Engadget HD Podcast but first we had some internal business to attend to with our BTS giveaway (you're entered right?) and Fantasy Football trash talking. After that, a combination of DirecTV leaks and news from Google and Apple had us in a mood to talk about the state of the TV industry and just who is standing in the way of innovation. Luckily, there is someone working on new technology, and the ATSC is working on new broadcast standards for 3D and other features to be delivered via antenna. After that we turned to the Xbox 360, which is getting some 3D games from Microsoft including Halo: CE Anniversary, and a brand new ESPN3 app. To wrap things up we had to get in some HD display news, with a new projector and Sony's web app that lets you figure out just what size TV your living room can handle before digging into this week's HDTV shows, Blu-ray discs and videogames. Engadget HD Podcast 261 - 08.16.2011 | Filed under: Podcasts Back with very little delay, it's another episode of the Engadget HD Podcast. The shocking news of the week is certainly Google's deal to purchase Motorola Mobility, so we brought on our good friend and industry insider Jeremy Toeman to figure out what Motorola might mean for Google TV. Of course, that's not all that happened this week, so we've also got news from TiVo, Zediva, Warner Bros and Cablevision. Hulu is launching in Japan, the PS3 is a better Blu-ray 3D player and it's also the season for our back to school HDTV buying advice, so listen in on the reasoning for our picks and see if you agree. Finally, we've got Runco's cheapest projector out, a new push from Niveus and of course our TV picks for the week before getting ready for some football. Like the show.
But I think it could be a half hour show because you talk about some stuff for to long. Keep up the good work.
