Boomer Women Lying to their Doctors feat. Beverly Mahone - Feb 08,2011 | More than half of Baby Boomer women aren’t owning up to their health issues with their doctors, according to a new study. The joint study by TENA and Harris Interactive released today shows about 55 percent of Boomer women are not discussing personal health issues with their physicians, in part because they believe a symptom is just part of getting older. “Breaking the doctor-patient communication barrier is incredibly important for all patients, but particularly boomer women,” Dr. Cynthia Hall said (SOURCE: Examiner.com) Explaining away symptoms as being something that is inevitable with age may be one reason the Boomer-woman-patient to doctor communication has broken down. But Beverly Mahone, boomer author and talk radio host, also reveals that there is a tendency among her fellow boomer women to flat out lie to their doctors. Beverly got caught lying to her physician after she was diagnosed with a life-threatening condition. In her latest book, Don't Ask and I Won't Have to Lie: '50 is the new 30' and other tall tales, Beverly gets to the bottom of women's untruthful tendencies and also how lying can be hazardous to your health. Beverly is stopping in at GirlTalk on Monday, February 7th and she is laying it all out there. February is Heart Month.
