Awesome!!

Slow first couple chapters to introduce the story, but after that, riveting. Can't wait for new episodes!!!

Great Collection!

I've never really been into short stories, they either fall into trouble with the endings, you can't warm up to the characters or the author tries to go for something they just can't fit into the short story format.

None of these problems happen with Serving Worlds. John worked the characters perfectly so you got just enough of them to either cheer for them or hope they die a horrible death. The stories has some very interesting concepts, but nothing that couldn't fit into the 20-80 minute (4 episodes at 20 minutes) format while still keeping you entertained and the ending never left you thinking that the autor just gave up or rushed it to finish the story.

I have heard quite a few times that short stories are actually harder to write compared to full length, so if John can do this well with the harder format I really can't wait for his first full length novel!

Update......With the addition of John feature full length novel Enemy Lines, you'd be a fool not to subscribe to this podcast. Enemy lines is an amazing futuristic story with aliens, secret government agencies, greedy multinational companies....the works. Along with John's created by god, perfect for audio, buttery smooth voice, this story is a must listen.

Compelling and Well-crafted

Enemy Lines shows us a world of the future but one that is still recognizable to modern eyes. While new challenges exist for humanity, familiar themes remain almost as cautionary tales: shadowy government agencies, unscrupulous corporations, and mankind's ongoing thirst for knowledge and exploration.

John has woven these disparate threads together in a tale that works hard to get your attention and then keeps a firm grip on it from episode to episode. He has a good flare for the dramatic and his characters grow with the story without becoming too cliche.

All in all, a very enjoyable podcast and one that I actually stopped listening to, only because I didn't really want it to end. I can't wait for a sequel!
