Provide good pointers to see the world more clearly!

To get a different view on things that surround us every day, this is an awesome show. It is well produced, professional and entertaining. Even if you don't agree with some of the conclusions, or the premises put forth, it makes you think and stand back from your preconceptions. Of course, if you're not open to the possibility of reevaluating your thinking process, this show is not for you. The guests are, most of the time, articulated and present their views very clearly. Contrary to some, I don't find them arrogant or dismissive of other point of views. I believe that it's their passion that may lead someone to believe otherwise. Some of the subjects tackled are quite surprising for a non U.S.A. resident like me (the Intelligent Design debacle for instance) but, all in all, it is universal enough to keep me hooked. A great show that lost one star for its "over the top" proselytizing. I can understand that they want to expand their "reality based" community, but they're pushing a bit too much, in my opinion.

Essential listening

Each week I look forward to this podcast. What amazes me is that people who have faith in the supernatural would think that this show has "leaps of illogic". Where is the logic in believing in something that cannot exist and doesn't answer your prayers? What's worse, if your prayers aren't answered you either didn't have enough faith or you were wishing for the "wrong" thing. It can never be god's fault. What a powerful meme.

Balanced, mind-expanding journalism at its finest!

I've been listening to POI every week since early 2007. DJ Grothe continues to expand my understanding of science and critical thinking with balanced and unbiased interviews of guests from both sides of the skeptical movement. Even when he interviews Creationists or Intelligent Design proponents, he stays respectful and pushes them to think critically about their claims. Amazing work, POI. I look forward to listening for years to come.
