2 VideoVans Roadblock 2011 Vans Shoes sponsored a contest between 4 skateshops in Vancouver, BC. BLVD Antisocial Coastal Riders Underworld They shutdown Granville Street and had a contest where each shop brought its own obstacle. Every shop team would skate the obstacle for 10 minutes and the judges would award $1000.00 to the winning team on each obstacle. 3 VideoCreature Skateboards Bowl Contest Underworld Skateshop put on a Bowl contest in the summer of 2011. Creature Skateboards was the major sponsor. Some great skateboarders ripped the park. 4 VideoGriffin Skatepark 2011 In this episode we go to the Griffin skatepark in North Vancouver, BC. This is the second stop of the Vancouver Bowl Series. This local bowl contest has had a long history. 17 years of contests at all of the major bowl style skateparks around BC. The Boarding House skateshop (RIP) started this series. After closing its doors, the local skate community has picked up the cause. Local skaters have organized the contest every year since. No financial interest. No cool guy credit. 5 VideoCanada Day 2011 Seylynn Skatepark Canada Day has always been a cause for celebration. Celebrate the birth of the nation of Canada. What better way than getting together with a few hundred skaters and starting the Bowl Series 2011? This year was a beautiful day filled with skating, drinking, fireworks and some crashes. The contest itself is loosely organized and judged on a scale of Rad. The big winners each year aren't the Advanced or Sponsored guys. Its the Beginner category that walks away with armloads of gear to stoke them out and keep them interested. Always remember to support the generation behind you. Thanks go to all this years sponsors: RDS apparel, Skull Skates, Vans Footwear, Sector Nine and many more that I can't remember. Oh yeah "Auto Repairs R Wee" gave away shirts and decks. 6 VideoBeef Under The Chief 2010 The Beef Under The Chief contest has been going on for a couple years now. Each year has a bigger turn out than the last. This years skating definitely stepped up. This was a two run format with the top five getting a 15 minute jam final. The bowl jam got hectic and the skaters stepped up the action. We left the music and commentary on the audio because it makes you feel like you were there. It may get a little hard to listen too but the feeling is there. Michael James aka Giver has been skating the Bowl series for the last few years moving up from intermediate to advanced. In this 5 tricks, Michael tried a new twist. 11 VideoWhistler Bowl Series 2009 At the end of Summer each year the Vancouver contest series has a final contest and crowns a new King. This year was a little different. At the beginning of the summer we lost a dear friend. I have always knew him as Carver Don. He suffered as head trauma at the Canada Day contest at Seylynn on July 1st, 2009. He passed later on that day. This year’s winner and King of the Bowl was declared to be Carver Don. I couldn’t think of a better and more fitting way to remember him. There was a record number of competitors. The Men’s advanced included Mike Pragnell, Steve Denham, Nate Lacoste, Mike Connolly, Adam Hopkins, Adam Tagg, Giver, and many more. 15 VideoHalloween at Leeside skatepark Skull Skates sponsored a Halloween event at Leeside Skatepark. The event was the first time that this many skaters shredded the skater built and Lee Matasi inspired skatepark. It included Marc Tison and Barry Walsh from Quebec. 18 VideoBeef Under The Chief The Second Annual Beef Under The Chief skateboard contest was sponsored by Stuntwood Skateshop, Circa Combat Division, Sector 9 Longboards and many others. Skaters came from Vancouver and Whistler to compete. The contest format was 2 qualifying runs, 2 final runs, followed by a 5 minute jam. The first wall rebate was in effect and the crowd called for a few. It was a great time. The MC, Steve Lange, did a good job of organizing a skateboard contest. 20 VideoAntisocial Ramp On Main Street Antisocial Skate shop put a mini ramp in the middle of Main Street in Vancouver. It was part of a Main Street Business Association Block Party. 22 VideoVancouver Pool Session The 2010 Olympic Winter Games are coming to Vancouver. There is a buzz of construction and destruction all around. 26 VideoCrowning the King We finished of the summer’s bowl series with a final contest in Whistler BC. The contest was broken up with rain delays but the competitors continued to rip up the course. Whistler is a great bowl with some fun lines. Everyone had a great time on a rainy Sunday in August. Congratulations to Dave 57 for the overall title of King Of the Bowls. 27 VideoBeef Under the Chief On a overcast day in August, Stuntwood, Sector 9 and Circa Combat Division held a contest called Beef Under The Chief. The contest was held in two parts. The first was a two run - first wall rebate bowl contest. There were two divisions and lots of happy skaters. The second part was Best Trick held on both the Gap and Handrails. 29 VideoVancouver Bowl Series This was a great day of skateboarding. The skater’s were going off. Skull Skates provided free hot dogs for the crowd. The yearly event went of great. Canada Day has traditionally been the start of the bowl series. Every summer on July 1st - Canada Day, the locals hold a contest that starts off the summer bowl series.
