SeqCirc 10-4 • 0CO | With over two decades of performance experience on a variety of instrumentation, Salvatore Sferrazza's latest compulsion for synths with beats sees him producing under the cryptic pseudonym 0CO. Melding influences that chronicle the history of electronic music, 0CO's oeuvre maintains orbit around a barycenter of Techno, Electro Bass, Acid, Italo-disco, Berlin School and Freestyle. While the sounds exhibit a severe fixation on synthetic rhythms, sinister melodies find ample opportunity for infiltration. Dark, double-helix synth passages betray an intellect seldom portrayed in much of the 21st century's dancefloor fodder. Further distinctions are found in 0CO's applied matériel. Live electronics are manufactured exclusively with hardware kit: DCO polys, VCO monos, PCM ROMplers and a small modular are deployed for violent sonic disintegration campaigns upon nocturnal subterraneans. Chaos awaits. STYLE: Techno / Acid / Electro Bass HOME CITY: New York City, NY | 1/21/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

SeqCirc 10-1 • Jessie Bru | Jesse is an MC, DJ, producer and artist who draws inspiration from all things deep and soulful. Borrowing much of his approach to music-making from that of early-90's sample-based hiphop (A Tribe Called Quest, O.C., Organized Konfusion, DJ Krush), you can expect a plethora of rhodes, vocals and guitars, with plenty of disco and soul sprinkled on top for good measure. Jesse will be releasing his debut album 'MidCity' on UK-based label 'Audio Parallax' early in the new year and is certainly someone to keep an eye on. SeqCirc 9-5 • Longwalkshortdock | A veteran of sound design and electronic music production for well over a decade, Longwalkshortdock's music has stepped into a genre of its own. Heavily influenced by early 80s video game music, metal and rock music, found-sound and vintage analog synthesis, he stacks layers of melody in his tracks until they implode and reform. Heavy drums and aggressive synths join forces with rolling grooves and melodic lead lines to create a wide variety of slamming dance floor originals. SeqCirc 9-3 • DJ Lace | Oh hai, I'm Lace. I have a job as a dance music dj on saturdays in an after hours and I work in a local studio. I've been a dj since 1982, and an electronic musician since since 1984. I've never been attached to the times, and have always liked the idea of controlling machines that entertain people in a live setting. A lot of times I want to do something with machines that can't be done, so I invent a way of doing it myself. I started my journey into live PA In Edmonton at the end of the 80s by mixing my 808 into my live DJ sets to create my own style of live remix jamming. I've never been a scratcher, but I can chase lock anything and that has driven part of my career. Then I added a sampler and an atari computer and my DJ rig started to look more like a weird live studio. However cool, Edmonton didn't get it at the time. So, I moved to Vancouver in the early 90s, built a recording studio, released a bunch of records and CDs, and started experimenting with trying to reproduce the music I was writing in the studio into some kind of one man live band with lighting and video. I started adding live midi controlled visuals to my shows in the late 90s using custom made software and hardware, something I still do to this day. I'm a dance music artist at heart so my shows are based on a DJ sound, but you decide how you want to enjoy my show. You can dance to it, or you can watch it like a tv show, or both if you don't spill your drink. When Harley, unable to create sounds and engineer a decent drum line, met Joshua, incapable of producing notes that harmonized with musical aesthetics, MistrWOLF naturally bred as an unstoppable creative force melding two adverse worlds, creating one unique melodic romance with a laptop and a guitar. SeqCirc 8-4 • Honeey Mustard | Inspired by her interest in music, Elaine decided at 17 years old to venture into this industry. Early projects included producing and hosting her own local cable TV show about the dance scene in Calgary, which brought Elaine into the Calgary club scene to interview musicians and DJs (the true pioneers of the scene), and becoming the regular light technician and dj assistant at Calgary’s upscale dance club “The Banke” which hosted crowds of over 800 people on the weekends. She was fascinated by the way the djs and music could move a crowd and began to practice the craft, eventually getting a job as a full-time resident at another busy dance club, and soon she became the resident dj at The Banke as well. In 1990 she began experimenting with more underground vinyl after being exposed to some raves and underground djs. Her interest grew in the rave scene and she began throwing parties as one half of Honeey N Nutty Ink, while also playing techno and deep jazzy house as Honeey. There was always an even harder side wanting to get out, so eventually Honeey put away her house records and in 1993 she became a fulltime techno DJ as Honeey Mustard. In 2005, inspired by Calgary’s still-strong rave scene, Elaine decided to take things to the next level and began creating her first original music pieces in Ableton Live. Exploring ambient and techno realms in the studio and delving into drum and bass on the dancefloor at clubs like Soda took Elaine to a whole new level of inspiration and Misselaineous was born. Drum and bass melded with the soul of techno to create a new hybrid entity. STYLE: Techno/D&B HOME CITY: Calgary, Alberta http://www.honeeymustard.com | 2/5/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

SeqCirc 7-6 • The Square Root Of Evil | The Square Root of Evil (Jen Pearson) has been surrounded by musicians her entire life. It was only natural that as soon as computers were able to keep up with her lightning fast compositional skills, she would use them to translate the thetas and gammas of her weirdo brainwaves into beats and bleeps of dance music. She’s been featured on over half a dozen compilations on US, UK & Canadian labels, and has released two EPs, “Chirping Data” out on Belladonna (now defunct), and “Killerbytes” which can be downloaded from Xynthetic. She represented Vancouver in the 2006 North American Laptop Battle Championship in Seattle after making her way to the top in her hometown, has played countless live shows in Vancouver and Europe, and will be playing Sequential Circus fresh from her set at Mutek 2010. Her work has been described as everything from IDM, Techno, 8-bit, Drum ‘n Bass, Glitch & Jungle, as the sub-sub-sub genres continue to split further & further… leaning towards frantic & somewhat complex rhythms made with crunchy low-fi sounds, making people smile while they dance. SeqCirc 7-3 • Dark Arps | Back in Canada for the first time in 19 years, Dark Arps is Jon Bierman’s latest solo project. Synths, sampled instrumental melodies, warped tonal textures and atmospheres are supported by incessantly danceable beats and infectious basslines. Constantly musical, evolving, progressing, segueing, modulating and jumping, sometimes dark, and yet also positive and upbeat without being saccharine, it’s music for the head, the heart, and most importantly, the feet. Beats, synths, atmospheres and melodies are triggered, mixed and effected on-the-fly using Ableton Live and a selection of MIDI controllers and hardware synths. Tracks evolve, break down and crescendo organically. Danceable grooves are mandatory and ever-present and no two sets are ever the same. SeqCirc 2-5 • John Tennant and Ricardo Almeida | John Tennant has been involved the Vancouver live PA community for the past 8 years. He’s released a few tracks on vinyl (Village, Rhythmic and Telegraph) and with the online record label Nishi. Combining forces with Ricardo Almeida in recent years, John is focused on delivering the most satisfying sound fidelity possible in a live PA performance. For SeqCirc2, John will be highlighting some recent work with generative sequencing techniques and on-the-fly audio loop layering techniques. Ricardo Almeida has gained a reputation over the past 12 years as the dark horse of the Vancouver techno scene. A legendary recluse, it’s unknown just how far his musical influence stretches. What is known is that he’s constantly busy refining and perfecting his studio technique, securing releases with labels worldwide and remixing high profile artists. Combining forces with John Tennant, Ricardo’s live PA style is to deliver intelligent, driving, and focussed composition, tailor mixed and arranged for the club, crowd, and vibe. For SeqCirc2, Ricardo will be showing off some of his startlingly funky techniques involving a Nintendo DS, Nord Modular, JXP-3P, and microphone. SeqCirc 2-4 • Komega | Komega’s custom control device looks like an alien space pod from the future. It pulses and throbs in time with his aural creations and it provides some wicked psychedelic eye candy to accompany his fusion of sound. Delivering a pounding repertoire of glitchy tech breaks, Komega aims to move minds and bodies. STYLE: Tech Breaks HOME CITY: San Francisco, California | 1/19/08 | Free | View In iTunes |

SeqCirc 2-3 • Transgress | Transgress is the solo Live PA project of Peter ‘Fish’ Fisera (also of the live improvised techno band Inject, see http://inject.org). Instead of the laptop that is commonly the heart of a Live PA setup these days, Fish uses Alesis MMT-8 hardware MIDI sequencers from circa 1989, along with a large array of both vintage and recent synths and drum machines. The result: techno, breaks, tech-trance, or downtempo; melodic and trippy, sometimes chaotic but rarely abrasive, and with an emphaasis on original synth sounds rather than the expected. Since 2002, Transgress has played in many venues and vibes, including the late night parties and smokey clubs where techno music is often found. SeqCirc 2-2 • God In The Machine | A bass-heavy journey through the darker side of urban music, a sound that is all graffiti-inspired breakbeats, syncopated percussion, and snarling, gritty synth screams. It is the music of the concrete jungle brought kicking and screaming into the information age, juxtaposed against a collage of other genres, from jazz-infected turntablism to industrial noize, all grafted together without regard to musical tradition. The project is the brainwashed child of sole member J. Wells, who began producing electronica at age fifteen out of frustration with the vapid machismo of heavy metal. SeqCirc 1-6 • Devin Dirt | Brooklyn based producer, Devin Dirt combines industrial techno with dirty house and serves it up with a hot cup of f**k you. Imagine Iggy Pop and Daft Punk kicking the s**t out of each other at an after hours and you get the idea. Nasty bass lines, distorted leads, raw beats and tweaked out edits fuel Devin Dirt’s in-your-face sound. Being one of the few electronic artists performing Live PA without a laptop, his sets are wildly charged and not to be missed. Heavy drums and aggresive synths join forces with rolling grooves and melodic lead lines to create a wide variety of bangin dance floor originals. Did you know they found him in a cave on the moon? SeqCirc 1-2 • Inkwell | Inkwell is the product of two minds from vastly different backgrounds, coming together with entirely original material that slams the dancefloor and leaves the crowd wanting more. Rocking mostly homemade gear, their live performance centers around a battle ready PC built into a turntable flight case and a knob box that looks like it’s from 1902. Minimal Techno is the backbone of the their set, but it often veers in other more diverse territory without warning. Also they’re damn sexy.
