Podcast vol.48 | This is the OPPOSITE of the last podcast. Slow-ass chord-filled tracks may be all the rage in Finland, but in Australia they've just discovered something called the 'mash-up,' and it's causing hand-waving, wayfarer-sporting hysteria. Beni, of Bang Gang and Riot in Belgium fame, is a great friend, and not so much a Deejay as a Funjay. Seriously, why are some countries just happier than others? Tracklist: Video Clash - Lil' Louis AA247 - Dance Area (acapella) get it - Zombie Nation i'll get you - Clasixx this sweet love - Prins Thomas sweet dreams - Eurythmics oh yeah - Daft punk let's ride- Gonzales sex o'clock - Tiga cut dick - mr oizo get fresh - Kid Sister (Alex Gopher mix) what you need - Tiga (zombie nation mix) the worm - ZZT let there be house - Deskee my love sees you - beni shoes - Tiga (beni mix) Pourriture 7 - MR OIZO handguns - alex gopher (beni mix) maximus - Beni pon de floor - Major Lazer hey! - diplo and laidback luke fringe element - beni pocket piano - Dj Mehdi don't stop till you get enough - Michael Jackson www.myspace.com/listentobeni | 8/14/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast vol.46 | To celebrate the release of Turbo 066, we've invited Phonogenic to podcast us. He's got a great, creepy Euro-voice. Enjoy! Phonogenic has put out great records on respected labels like Cocoon and 20:20 Vision. He's a dark horse producer whose Detroit #38; Chicago influenced sound would have blown up by now if he lived in Berlin. Too bad he's from Tampere! I met Tuomas Salmela last October on his home turf at the not-famous Musiikki #38; Media conference. Jori Hulkkonen was asked to chose some of THE movers and shakers in the world of electronic dance, and he chose me, Tuomas Von Party... partly, I suspect, because he thought there was a slim chance I would actually come. As fate would have it, I needed a late rush of air miles to reach Star Alliance Gold status for 2008, so I figured it was as good a time as any to find out once and for all if Tampere could be any lamer than Turku. The conference was dope. All emo's and metal bands... some of the worst music I've ever heard, but sweet little Finns overjoyed to see foreigners... Jori could only stay one day, so he introduced me to Phonogenic, who had a demo CD all prepared for me. The tracks were a bit jazzy and fairy... good, but not as good as the great one he did on Cocoon. So not good enough, you see... I begged him to take me to a hockey game, to see the Tampere 'Ilves' (best team logo ever). Tuomas overcame not only his malaise with Finnish jocks, but also his inability to drive, to be a great host... at which point I knew he had to be seriously interested in a record release... I ate blood sausage and cheered for the home team. It was amazing... the highest scoring player got to wear a GOLDEN HELMET! Dammit this should have been the 'Golden Helmet EP!!' I was the only person in the stadium with dark or curly hair. Little blonde Finns were staring. Anyways, we kept in touch since then and finally he sent me these two excellent tracks of bassy, ballsy, bigroom tech-house... a deal was made via video-sauna and all-of-a-sudden Turbo 066 be done... Enjoy! This onesheet is FINNISH! Tracklist: 1. Stimming "The Kiss (Ripperton Remix)" [Diynamic] 2. Abe Duque f. Virginia "Following My Heart (DJ Hell Remix) [Process Recordings] 3. Podcast vol.44 | After Steve's funk-a-thon, I figured we ought to cleanse ourselves... we've been covering a lot of ground lately, indulging quite a bit of personality... it's been fun, but I've had enough eclecticism for a while, so I brought the perfect antidote: Giorgio Gigli is a chilled-out Roman producer and DJ who has released records on great labels like Mental Groove and Wagon Repair. He's put together a gorgeous mix for us, it's very relaxing and ambient so I recommend you save this one for when you have some time to space-out and let it sink all the way in. I LOVE this mix. Podcast vol.42 | Matt Walsh has put together a mix of his favorite Turbo tracks of all time. They aren't the big or obvious ones, there are loads of great sleepers on here that even fans of the label may have missed. It's also quite an easy groove to get into... nothing too hard or abrasive. Here is the tracklist: 1.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Tiga #38; Zyntherius - Sunglasses at Night (Konrad Black Mix) - Turbo 050 2.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Alex Jones - Clowns Pocket - TMV-03 3.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Chaim - Rue De Charlotte - Turbo 048 4.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Jori Hulkkonen - Mister Drive - Turbo 047 5.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Tiga - Burning Down (TGV Dub) - Turbo 019 6.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Tomas Barford - Saturdaya - Turbo 033 7.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; ZZT - The Worm (Erol Alkan's Extended Rework) - Turbo 058 8.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Kolombo - Pique Nique - Turbo 061 9.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Jesper Dahlback - Mega Signalizer - Turbo 060 10.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Rainer Werner Bassfinder - Minimal Scarf F*****s Drown! - Turbo 052 11.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Brodinski - Oblivion (Clouded Vision's Vertical Drop) - Turbo 059 12.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Gillieron #38; McArthur - Now its Dark - Turbo 016 13.nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;nbsp; Etienne Daho - Le Grand Sommeil (Sweetlight Remix) - Turbo 031 | 3/20/09 | Free | View In iTunes |

Podcast vol. 41 | nbsp; In his new podcast, DMX Krew continues the exploration of "music he was into", this time taking on early 90's techno and acid in my favorite podcast to date, focusing on the emerging sound from Detroit and the UK. Moving through our 'tweens', the early '90s was a pretty shameful era. While we had limited access through Tiga to glimpse some of the excitement of Rave, we were a bit too young to take part, and had our own murky waters to wade through. Pearl Jam, anyone? "Nah man, it's all about the PUMPKINS." It was either grunge or C#38;C Music Factory. It was the birth of the boy band. Girls our age stil liked NKOTB. Never has the disparity between the underground and the popular been greater. Except maybe now. So listen up, downloading pod-follower, lest history repeat itself. Pay attention to the sound of the underground. Trust in DMX Krew. We trust him because he delivers one amazing podcast after another. Enjoy! SLT.040 Jesper Dahlback | One of the most important figures in Turbo's past, present, and future, Jesper is also one of Tiga's key collaborators. This is an amazing podcast, a rare glimpse into the strange world of a chronically underrated producer and very weird guy. Jesper plays lost tracks from 93-96 that never saw release. Podcast vol.36 | DMX Krew presents the music that has influenced him, from Kraftwerk to LL Cool J, from fusion jazz to hardcore rave, it's a chronological journey from a unique voice in electronic music. DMX Krew's 'Bass Drop EP', Turbo 057, will be released in December. Here's the press release for that to give a bit more background: We at Turbo are longtime fans of DMX Krew, so it's a real honor to work with him again 6 years after his last contribution to our now defunct sub-label 'White Leather'. We don't normally trace an artist's history or include much biography in our press releases, but we feel the need in this case to pay our respects to a long and brilliant career. With all the crap that gets paraded around nowadays it's easy to forget who the real masters are... ED DMX is one of them. I've always held a soft spot for Ed, he was one of my favorite producers in the proto-electro heyday. Hearing his live version of the Knight Rider theme at Sona (Tiga's club circa '96) was (believe it or not) a revelation. Of all the artists I'd met up until then, he was the coolest: he could play synths better than anyone I'd ever heard, he had the balls to do vocals in his live-set, but he was a sweet, soft-spoken, and super funny guy. For reasons I've never understood, Ed's pop side didn't seem to take off and for awhile things took a distinctly experimental turn... interesting stuff, but a departure from the bright immediacy I loved in his earlier records. I was starting to put him into that category of genius artist that pissed me off because they weren't making the music I wanted them to make, but were on some brain-trip doing things I didn't understand (think Aphex Twin, Prince, Jori Hulkkonen...). So I let him fall off my radar... And THEN... 2007 rolls around and his alias 101 Force drops " 'Tha Return', followed shortly thereafter by 'SH101 Triggers MS10', easily two of my favorite records of the year and some of the best acid house ever made. Buy them now. I could blather on and on about how incredible those records are, but the important thing is that we took action and signed 'The Bass Drop.' This EP doesnrsquo;t reference or pay homage to Acid House so much as it embodies it. This is the real deal. It is with great pride that we bring you DMX Krew, same as he ever was, the analog don back to school all you blog-turds in the art of the acid groove. | 10/23/08 | Free | View In iTunes |

SLT.035 Zombie Nation 19/09/08 | I asked Zombie if he wanted to do a podcast for us and he replied: "What a coincidence. I hate doing dj mixes, and I never did one in the last 3 years until today." So here you have it... While the Munich based producer is best known for his NHL-anthem 'Kernkraft 400', he's hardly a commercial dance act, having produced darker, gritty techno both under 'Zombie Nation', his alias 'John Starlight', and as one half of ZZT along with Tiga. He's one of the best performer's in live techno, foregoing the ubiquitous Ableton setup in favor of an oldschool approach centered around the classic MPC. He's got incredible stage presence, mixing control with chaos in just the right proportion, with enough novelty (masks, fake blood, head banging) to keep crowds staring in awe. John Starlight's 'Road Rage' has just been given an incredible remix by Popof, and the new ZZT record 'The Worm' is set to drop in October on Turbo Recordings. love from mtl Thomas Von Party | 9/25/08 | Free | View In iTunes |

SLT.034 Max Pask 09/09/08 | I don't know too much about Max Pask, except that he has a mightier afro than me, speaks French, and lives in NY. I played with him one time at Paris' Social Club and it was an awesome night which left me with a very favorable impression of the man. He's just done a cool new remix for Cut Copy and seems to be on the rise with his productions, but he's already in that rare category of artist who is respected firstly as a DJ.Enjoy this nearly 2 hour mix: 'Escape From Planet Max Pask'.Love from MTLThomas Von Partyhttp://www.myspace.com/maxpask | 9/11/08 | Free | View In iTunes |

SLT.032 Duff 07/28/08 | Sid Loves Turbo has been mincing around with a lot of disco and pop lately, so this time around we go back to the source with an all-Turbo tribute. I was sent this mix by a guy called Duff, a Spanish DJ who writes an impressive looking music blog. I can't read Spanish, but it's nice to see someone writing pages about music with no free download links. He's a big fan of the label and he paid his respects with a great retrospective. The mix is a bit rough around the edges... but I thought it was a well chosen selection of some of Turbo's finest moments, and deserved to get some extra exposure. Hope you enjoy it! SLT.031 Julien Plaisir De (Sweetlight) 07/09/08 | Julien Plaisir De returns with a podcast dedicated to 'summer love', Parisian style. Please note that if you're not French, you'll still enjoy most of this mix but there'll be a few that you'll be biologically forced to skip. The A#38;R police at Turbo were able to forgive the obvious indulgences because we ARE true romantics at heart (even if OUR idea of romance is a six hour 303 symphony). I've recently had the pleasure of staying with Julien in his adorable apartment in Paris and I'm pleased to report that this mix legitimately sounds a lot like his life feels ndash; like a cross between a Wes Anderson and Eric Rohmer film. SLT.019 Jori Hulkkonen 19/11/07 | ldquo;Originalrdquo; is a dangerous word in music...itrsquo;s something everyone throws around... but in my days I have known very few... and Jori is one of the last true electronic pioneers... never afraid to make a record everyone hates, and in the process he makes records that everyone ends up loving... and crucially HE loves. In this cookiecutter world of myspace profiles and generic soulless music Jori is a dying breed, an artist, and a real character who marches relentlessly to the sound of his own drums (and strings)." Tiga Jori has been with Turbo since the very beginning (Turbo 001!) but he's just hitting his prime and has just delivered an incredible remix of Chromeo and has a new EP entitled 'Rave 2.0' coming out next week. | 11/19/07 | Free | View In iTunes |

SLT.015 Mike Mind 11/09/07 | It's a hectic job bringing Turbo back into the global spotlight, and as our dedicated listeners may have noticed, Sid Loves Turbo has seen delays as a result. I knew I had to pull in the reins and get some content together fast while finishing my next podcast, so I asked friend and Montreal DJ Mike Mind to give us his latest mix, complete with tracklist and artwork, thinking I would save time. What I didn't take into account was that Mike would give me a virtuosic, densely-layered mix with 21 tracks, and that it would be up to me to figure out where 'Skoozbot' ended and 'Glass Candy' begun... just putting the track markers in took me over an hour!!! and I'm the Power-User computer-whiz responsible for the Tiga / Turbo mainframe. Next time you think you've been working hard, chew on this: Mike doesn't sleep! He has been working continuously since he was 4 years old. While you were playing in the sandbox, he was counting grains of sand, while you were taking 3 classes so you could have Fridays off he was 16 years old at Harvard, while you were getting high at a party last weekend, he was jacked up on black coffee studying drum layering, and while you were taking a lunch break yesterday he was eating a cigarette to get the edge he needed to EQ this mix. Here's the deal: the world can only ignore intelligence and diligence for so long... mark my words people, sooner or later, Mike Mind is going to the top, and it will be a well-deserved ascent, so if you're smart, you'll get your think on and be down with this Brain-mix. SLT.014 Matt Walsh 13/08/07 | Tiga heard Matt play at T Bar and thought he was great, so we asked him to do a podcast for us, and he was really sweet and grateful at the opportunity. A week later he came back to us with this dope mix of acid and disco - some unreleased new records (great new Juan Maclean!!) and some old gems (Don Quixote, where have you been all my life?), all kicked off by a classic 'Screamadelica' intro you're about to hear. There are no obvious tracks, no 'mash-up' of no- brainer-bombs... just weird groovy records picked with passion and confidence... This is an old-fashioned mix with the analog warmth of an all-vinyl set, put together with the cool knowledge of a myspace kid... a rare balance in today's blog-o-sphere. Génial! Fantastique! Merveilleux... Mais biaisé.
Étant l'un des membres du collectif SID LEE, je suis au peu biaisé mais je pense que c'est du grand Turbo! Enjoy.
