CleanSoccer Report Extra Podcast: Episode 61a – Dressed For Success | After another turbulent round of the FA Cup, we're left with more questions than answers for what's going on at both Chelsea & Arsenal, especially regarding the managers.  Bobby & Eoin are both convinced that a thoughtful change of wardrobe, perhaps, might just do the trick for Mr. Villas-Boas.  Arsene Wenger may be feeling the heat from his detractors, but at least he has sidelined-Wolves-loanee 'Manu' Frimpong to fight his twitter battles for him (I mean what else has he got going on - DEEEENCH!) BTW - This episode was epic (in duration) so it's split into 2 parts... be sure to download & listen to part 2! Right-Click To Download MP3 Subscribe Via iTunes Audio RSS | 2/21/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanSoccer Report Extra Podcast: Episode 60 – The Snub Seen ‘Round The World | Who knew they actually played 90 minutes of football at Old Trafford on Saturday?  Personally, I tuned in for the 'Suarez snub' on Patrice Evra, and then checked back at halftime & at full-time to catch the tunnel bust-ups and 'in-yer-face' celebrations (only kidding).  The match ended in a deserved 2-1 victory for Man. United, but with a subplot that big, it's easy to understand why the majority of the chatter focused on the events surrounding the game.  We also get to hear Bobby & Eoin's take on Mick McCarthy's sacking at Wolves, Chelsea's impromptu crisis talks with 'Mr. Big', Spurs' man-handling of Newcastle, and 'Arry Redknapp's impending appointment to the England post. There's a quick look back at another weather-affected weekend of Serie A action.  AC Milan climbed back to the summit (albeit on account of Juve's match with Bologna being post-poned) thanks to a comeback win over Udinese, and Inter lose yet again, this time at home to lowly Novara.  We end the podcast with the extraordinary story of former Canadian international and former Canadian U20 coach, Paul James, and his decade long battle with crack cocaine addiction.  The details of James' dual-life were made public on Monday, and if you want to read more, HERE'S A LINK to Neil Davidson's article for The Canadian Press. Right-Click To Download MP3 Subscribe Via iTunes Audio RSS | 2/14/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanSoccer Report Extra Podcast: Episode 59 – Hughie Green? What An Obscure Reference | One minute they're reviewing the controversial Danny Welbeck pk decision, and the next they're reminiscing about 1950's UK variety show host Hughie Green (and his Ancelotti-esque raised eyebrow).  It's not all fun and games though, as Bobby & Eoin get into a heated exchange over the English FA's handling of the John Terry situation.  The guys also review Manchester United's amazing 3-3 comeback draw with Chelsea, Roma's 4-nil demolition of Inter Milan, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic's simultaneously ingenious & stupid sending off versus Napoli. CleanSoccer Report Extra Podcast: Episode 58 – The Magic Of The Cup | The magic of the FA Cup returned for another round (QPR v Chelsea excluded) and offered up some tantalizing topics for discussion; can Liverpool really claim 2 pieces of silverware this season, is Frazier Campbell's career finally back on track after all those injuries, and does Arsene Wenger swear in English or French during his halftime talk? Bobby & Eoin analyze the best the 4th round had to offer.  Attention then turns to Italy, and the chase for the scudetto. Juventus continue to set the pace, while Ranieri's Inter lose valuable ground away to Lecce.  The pod finishes with Bobby sounding a cautionary note to Canadian WNT supporters; just because they've qualified for the olympics, doesn't mean they'll medal. CleanSoccer Report Extra Podcast: Episode 57 – The Hated XI | The Soccer Report Extra Podcast... you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy!  In a special episode of the SREP, Bobby & Eoin comb through the knit-wits of world football, and pick out the meanest of the mean, the nastiest of the nasty, the worst of the worst... the Hated XI. Leave your comments below if you think some other lowlife is more deserving (or was that less deserving) of a spot in the most horrible first-team ever assembled.  Oh, and we're still looking for some coaching (and staff) suggestions too.  Enjoy! CleanSoccer Report Extra Podcast: Episode 56 – Is It A Stamp, Or A Stomp? | This week on the SREP... Was it a stamp, or a stomp?  Bobby & Eoin discuss Mario Balotelli's naughty footwork, Arsene Wenger's unpopular substitutions, and a whole lot more as the guys focus on the events of 'Super Sunday' in the Premier League.  The Manchester clubs pull away in the title race, Bolton grab a valuable 3 points Vs Liverpool, and Clint 'Deuce' Dempsey bags a hat-trick in Fulham's comeback victory over Newcastle. CleanSoccer Report Extra Podcast: Episode 55 – Don’t Call It A Comeback! | Sweet! Our first big podcast of 2012!  Bobby joins us from climates fairer, via skype, while Eoin returns to the studio to bring you up to date with what's gone on in pod-land over the holidays. Talk turns to comebacks - Henry & Scholes in particular, and whether it's genius or folly to bring back a pair of past-their-prime PL legends.  The duo then delve into the recent, rather drab, displays put forth by Kenny Dalglish' Liverpool, and then ponder the enigma that is Andy Carroll. Eoin also offers his props for Claudio Ranieri's finely tuned AC Milan-munching machine, while Bobby wonders which Milan side would benefit most from signing a high-priced want-away Argentinean. CleanSoccer Report Extra Podcast: Episode 51 – It Felt Like A Hot Poker… | OK, right off the bat I'm gonna warm you about this weeks podcast. Not kidding around here, those with weak constitutions will wanna skip past a few of this week's anecdotes, especially Eoin's gruesome rugby story, and Bobby's history lesson about King Edward II. That said, the guys do focus attentions squarely on two big results from Sunday: Barcelona's emphatic victory in the FIFA Club World Cup Final and Manchester City's narrow home win over Arsenal. Messi and his Catalan cohorts chuck a massive wrench in the Neymar super-hype machine,  Arsene Wenger gets punished for not fielding any recognizable full-backs versus City... and was that Robin van Persie pokin' fun at Kolo Toure's weight problem? Enjoy! THIS WEEK'S SPECIAL BONUS: Eoin's distain for Bobby's velcro secured iPhone holder has inspired our first ever ringtone! CleanSoccer Report Extra Podcast: Episode 50 – Crouchy On Wire | Hey, it's our 50th podcast!  And to mark the occasion, a cool new soundtrack, courtesy of our friends at 2 Cent Bridge Music Production (www.2centbridge.com - check 'em out!) This week Bobby & Eoin completely dissect 'el Clasico', and surmise that Real Madrid's high pressure tactics versus Barcelona worked for a while, but simply ran out of steam. That's also the theme underlying Stokes' clash with Tottenham at the Britannia, only this time the Potters held on for the victory (thanks, in no small part, to some favourable decisions form the officiating crew).  Eoin also wants to know just what the heck Crouchy is doing with his arms half the time!?! CleanSoccer Report Extra Podcast: Episode 48 | This week on the podcast, Bobby & Eoin pause to discuss the news of, and reaction to, the untimely death of Wales manager, and former Premier League great, Gary Speed.  The guys also take a quick tour of the Carling Cup quarterfinals, examine Montreal Impact's pursuit of Brian Ching, chat draws, dubious calls & goalline technology from the Premier League, and cap it all off with a fascinating story about an American Samoan centre-back.  There's also a bit of hidden audio at the end (I recorded it on my gramophone - Poducer).  PS - There was a problem with the original podcast file failing to load, so I've uploaded a new version, should be working fine now! CleanSoccer Report Extra Podcast: Episode 47 – Tales From “La La Land” | This week on the SREP, Bobby & Eoin offer up their opinions on MLS' annual showpiece.  Eoin is critical of Houston's lack of cutting edge, while Bobby distances himself from the mainstream footballing press' praise for David Beckham's performance on Sunday.  There's also a look back at Premier League action from the weekend, and a look ahead to some critical midweek Champions League matchups. CleanSoccer Report Extra Podcast: Episode 46 – The Bucket List | This week on the podcast Bobby & Eoin go all-out deconstructing the opening legs of the Euro 2012 Qualifying Playoffs.  There's a quick detour through CONCACAF World Cup Qualifying, with Canada doing just what was needed to push on.  The guys then focus on international friendlies, and the two 'biggies' from Friday.  Laurent Blanc's inexperienced XI proved to be too much for Jurgen 'Only one win' Klinsmann & Co., while the English football press were strangely silent after a Capello-led England rumbled to victory over the world champs.  It's 1-hour-plus of the good stuff! Speaking of good stuff... I have been bugging Eoin for a while that he needs to sample a true Canadian delicacy, to really experience what it's like to be Canadian.  He's been in Canada for nearly 2 years, and he's yet to give Kraft Dinner a try (I know!).  It took a bit of convincing, but I was able to get Eoin to agree to a little 'cultural exchange'.  I'd whip up a pot of the good stuff, while he supplies the Barry's Tea (straight from Ireland).  I didn't have any 'Original' KD, so 'Sharp Cheddar' would have to do.  I don't think Eoin was very confident this was going to go very well.  I had to reassure him that it was perfectly safe to eat, even at 10am in the morning.  Eoin forced down 1 bite.   What a champ!  He said it had the consistency of earthworms(?), and that it was quite possibly the worst thing he'd ever eaten (and that's including earthworms, I presume).  That's one off the ol' Canadiana Bucket List! Eoin's smiling, but not because he enjoyed the KD experience... he's just relieved he didn't suffer any internal organ failure.  The Barry's Tea was excellent, BTW, and it fuelled a great podcast session. Cheers. Right-Click To Download MP3 Subscribe Via iTunes Audio RSS | 11/15/11 | Free | View In iTunes |

CleanSoccer Report Extra Podcast: Episode 45 – You Can Never Surrender! | Monday morning during the taping of the podcast, Bobby McMahon admitted that every time he hears the name Corey Ashe (Houston Dynamo) he immediately thinks of 80's Canadian Pop/Rock icon Corey Hart.  Funny how the mind makes those little associations. So, in the immortal words of Corey Ashe, "You can never surrender", or was it, "I wear my sun glasses at night"? (Both work equally well). Eoin is away, so Bobby is joined this week by FSR anchor Asa Rehman, and the two of them delve deep into the MLS Conference Finals.  Then it's off to England for a look back at the matches that both kicked off and wrapped up Round 11 of the Premier League: Newcastle v. Everton and Fulham v. Tottenham. We're loving your submissions for the SREP House Band concept, so keep 'em coming!  Sorry, there's no live drums in this week's pod... maybe next week. CleanSoccer Report Extra Podcast: Episode 44 – Jack-Ass-O-Lantern! | On a special Halloween edition of the podcast, Bobby & Eoin review all four of the MLS Conference Semifinal - 1st leg matches, and really get to the bottom of Rafa's Marquez' theatrics at the end of the lacklustre NY/LA 'dream' showdown.  The guys then pick through, in no particular order, Arsenal's big win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.  We wrap it up with a quick tour through the Serie A, and Juve's emphatic win over Inter.  There's also some live 'rimshots' punctuating to some pretty hefty jokes; hope it cracks a smile.  Also, be sure to contact us with your youtube/mp3 submissions for our search for an official SREP Band/Orchestra... Orchestras preferred, bands welcome. (If you've got the time, we'd love to hear it!) Also, as referred to in the pod, Bobby has found this confirmation of the best MLS game ever: "2003 MLS Cup playoffs - Los Angeles won the first game at home 2-0 in the two-game aggregate-goal series. In the second game in San Jose, the Galaxy scored two early goals to widen its aggregate lead to four goals, only to have San Jose score five unanswered goals to win the series 5-4. Many neutral MLS pundits at the time viewed that game as the best in league history. After eliminating the Galaxy, San Jose went on to defeat the Kansas City Wizards en route to winning its second MLS Cup title (over the Chicago Fire) in three years."  And HERE is a link to some highlights of the comeback. (There's also a great doc regarding the 2003 SJ triumph called "We Believe", all on youtube, worth a look.) CleanSoccer Report Extra Podcast: Episode 42 – An Orwellian Future For Club Football? | In this week's pod, Bobby McMahon, puts on his 'prognosti-goggles' (TM) and predicts that it's only a matter of time before Big Brother (FIFA) eventually gains control of top-level club football - negating the need for clubs to negotiate their own foreign TV rights deals.  Returning to the present, we break-down Manchester United's lucky draw at Anfield, and Eoin even wonders whether or not clubs need to deploy a defensive wall on free kicks anymore (I know, provocative right?).  The guys also embrace their inner 'Arry and assess Newcastle's performance versus Spurs, complete with butchered opponent's names (enough to make an old 'wheeler-dealer' proud).  There's also a quick stop in MLS to address Thierry Henry's ridiculous red card, and the ever impressive crowds in Seattle (this time to see off the great Kasey Keller).  Don't forget to leave your comments below, and if you're accessing the podcast from iTunes, why not leave a comment and give us a rating there as well. CleanSoccer Report Extra Podcast: Episode 34 – Who Shot Pep? | In this week's podcast, Eoin O'Callaghan treats us to a number of spot-on voice impersonations, as he re-creates the comedic highs and lows of Robbie Keane's unveiling ceremony in Los Angeles.  Speaking of re-creating, in a look back at round 2 of the Premier League, amongst other things, Bobby asks if Frank Lampard will have  it in him to re-create his role at Chelsea, once time and injuries begin to catch up with him.  The guys also ponder which players might emerge from the 2011 U20 tournament to star in the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil.  And finally, Bobby & Eoin review the spectacle that was the 2nd leg of the Spanish Super Cup, with Bobby drawing parallels between the Guardiola Vs Mourinho duel and recurring plot themes from a popular 80's prime time soap opera set in the heart of Texas. CleanSoccer Report Extra Podcast: Episode 27 – What Could Be More Important… Oh, Right… | Eoin returns to the podcast, after some much needed R&R, and he's bursting at the seams with excitement to tell us a rather 'vivid' anecdote about his flight home from vacation... but unfortunately that story will just have to wait for a slower news day.  In this week's episode Bobby and Eoin devote the entire podcast to examining why US Soccer decided to pull the plug on the Bob Bradley era, and embark on an epic quest to 'find themselves' - under the guidance of german soccer guru, Jurgen Klinsmann. CleanSoccer Report Extra podcast: Episode 26 – Eoin goes M.I.A. | What?! No Eoin O'Callaghan?!  No worries, we called Fox Soccer Report's, Asa Rehman, and he gladly stepped  into the breach.  This week Bobby & Asa review the highly entertaining Copa America final.  Yeah, Uruguay won in emphatic fashion, but has this team reached its pinnacle - 3 years before World Cup Brazil 2014? The 2011 Major League Soccer season has reached the All-Star game, and that means roughly a third of the season left play... but, is there really all that much left to play for?  Bobby & Asa speculate that the gap is already starting to emerge, separating the playoff contenders from the pretenders. Plus, the guys briefly look ahead to this week's action in the CONCACAF Champions League - Preliminary Round. CleanSoccer Report Extra Podcast: Episode 21 – Finally, Some Love For MLS! | After weeks of hollow promises, Eoin & Bobby finally deliver and chat about Major League Soccer.  This week your two favourite football podcast prognosticators offer up their All-Star picks ahead of the July 27th showdown with Manchester United.  And if you think that you can come up with a better starting XI - well - shoot us your picks in the comments section below.  Oh, and Eoin also points out that, Portland Timber, Jack Jewsbury's attractive brand of football is as refreshing as it is effective.  But the whole thing kicks off with a round-up of CONCACAF Gold Cup Quarterfinal results, with special attention paid to some Jermaine Jones' theatrics & a dubious Panamanian equalizer. CleanSoccer Report Extra Podcast: Episode 20 – Performance Enhanced, And It’s No Accident! | This week on the podcast that never rests Eoin and Bobby take stock (tainted and otherwise) of the Gold Cup, including Mexico's adventures in trafficking unlikely scenarios, and discuss an interesting brush with a cocaine-taking world high-jump champion. Then they consider Aston Villaâs hunt for a new manager and ask whether or not Villa would have to be under the influence of a strong hallucinogenic to hire Alex McLeish.  Then it's time to sample UEFA's pot(s) (six different varieties) as they announce the qualifying structure for World Cup 2014.  After that, a speedy review of the opening games at the UEFA Under 21s - which are not actually Under 21s at all (beware: this portion laced with angst).  Finally, they attempt to get to the matter of Week 13 MLS action, but after a 49 minute football contact high, they burn-out and crash hard.  It's all this week on the podcast that would fail the double-dope test. CleanSoccer Report Extra Podcast: Episode 19 – Sepp Blatter & The Council Of Wisdom | This week on the podcast, Bobby & Eoin take aim at FIFA's latest attempt at stemming the tide of corruption: the Council Of Wisdom.  According to Bobby the whole idea sounds more like an ill-conceived 80's new-wave band than a legitimate force for football good.  Also, Eoin suppresses his urge to complain, and instead extolls the virtues of Robbie Keane's goalscoring exploits for the Republic, while Bobby wonders why Arsenal are taking their sweet time locking up the services of Samir Nasri long-term.  Plus, Cuba get no sympathy from this crew after that humiliating thumping a the hands of Costa Rica in the Gold Cup.
