Backhand Shelf - February 17 2012 | Alot to talk about today! First off, we know you'll miss us, but there's no show on Monday. We'll understand if you are openly weeping right now. Milan Lucic’s church was vandalized and the first rioter from last year's Cup riots was sentenced. Does Vancouver have the most moronic fans? The Philadelphia Flyers get defenseman Nicklas Grossman from the Dallas Stars in exchange for a 2nd round pick in 2012 and a third-round pick in 2013. If this is an indication of the trade deadline.... OY! Habs fans cheered when Chara got a puck in the face. We'll discuss whether this is right or not. So let's get this straight. The NHL and Campbell found nothing wrong with the clock that stopped in LA, but the league is “clamping down”. Huh? We've also got Beerability Friday with Derek Snider, a 500 million dollar arena in Seattle...which won’t be built until an NHL AND NBA team are acquired AND we'll answer a couple of phone questions which you, our loyal listeners, have asked. | 2/17/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Backhand Shelf - February 15 2012 | Rob and Justin kibitz today about Rick Nash. With the rumours flying about trade possibilities, we'll talk where we think he should go. Also, the Red wings set a record with 21 home wins. When can the streak end? Scott Gomez got an earful from Assistant Coach Randy Ladouceur in front of the press. Is this a big deal or does it just go with being an NHl player? Justin will lend his experience to the conversation. In another player poll, Phil Kessel has been voted "easiest player to intimidate". Can we put any stock in these polls? We've also got Wagering Wednesday, a look at where we're putting our money on tonight's games. | 2/15/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Backhand Shelf - February 13 2012 | It's the pop culture episode! And....I guess.... we'll throw in some hockey news and opinion too. Justin and Rob discuss the Red Wings matching a historical record with a 20 game home winning streak. But can it be counted that way? Conversely, Chicago have lost eight in a row! Whattup with that??? We've also got Power Ranking Monday, Under the Radar hockey news with Jackie Redmond, Mats Sundin honoured by the Leafs who were then unceremoniously SPANKED by the Habs, and we'll discuss Henrik Lundqvist a little bit as well. | 2/14/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Backhand Shelf - February 10 2012 | Big show today, which is Friday. Justin and Rob talk Gomez FINALLY scoring after 1 year and 3 days! We'll go to Twitter to fill in the blanks between Gomez’s last 2 Goals. Worst secret ever: Red wings and Leafs in The Winter Classic. It seems like more people are talking about the Alumni game. Yzerman says he has no plans to play, Lidstrom could be there either way. Ron Wilson says because he has grandchildren, he will tone it down for 24/7 next year. That kinda sucks. Tim Thomas goes political on twitter....again! Then loses it on media and walks off. Listen to our producer rant incoherently on the subject. Hartnell and Phaneuf went at it last night. Was it because of the All-Star game? We'll discuss. As always, we've got Beerability Friday with The Score's own Derek Snider. The Score's Jesse Fuchs will be in studio to talk trade rumours and our Trade deadline show which takes place February 27th. All that and lots more today! | 2/10/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Backhand Shelf - February 8 2012 | Rob and Justin talk ALOT of hockey today. We're gonna weigh in on goalie interference and whether replay should be implemented and how. Owen Nolan retired. Is he a Hall of Famer? We'll also talk about whether #1 draft picks since Nolan have lived up to the hype of being "number ones". Next, we've got Claude Julien being annoyed at presser questions regarding the return of Nathan Horton. What's the deal with that?! Some folks are annoyed that Sam Gagner was awarded eight points, thinking he got a free assist out of the deal. We'll discuss. Further to Pizzo's blog post, we'll banter about the Rangers being poised to make history TWICE this season. Finally, we've got Wagering Wednesday and a whole lot more that we can't fit in here. | 2/8/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Justin and Rob will touch on the Kovalchuk-Schenn fight and reminisce on some of our favorite superstar fights. In other big news, Scott Gomez FINALLY broke a year long goal drought. Do we feel bad for him or is all this negative attention deserved? Philly just can't seem to get past the Rangers this season. We'll talk about that as well as Philly's goaltending problems in general. Then we've got Monday Power Rankings and our own Jackie Redmond catching us up on some hockey news that may have gone under the radar in the last week. | 2/6/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Backhand Shelf - January 20 2012 | I hope you didn't eat, cause today's show is almost as gruesome as Taylor Hall's face. Rob and Justin discuss the Alumni Game money fiasco. A picture of Taylor Hall came out yesterday and he spoke to the media. In accordance with this, we'll talk about the most gruesome hockey injuries we have seen. Then it's on to the All-Star game! Alfredsson and Chara are this year's captains. We'll discuss whether we like it or not. Brad Marchand thinks his hit was the same as Foligno's and wants to know why Foligno wasn't suspended. Duh?! Backhand Shelf - January 18 2012 | Welcome to The Backhand Shelf. Our specials today are Taylor Hall's freaky injury in last night's Oilers warm-up. 30 stitches. Should players be required to wear Helmets during warmup? John Tortorella wasn't happy that Rangers owner James Dolan said the Rangers are close to a Stanley Cup. In fact, Tortorella said it was 'B******t'. Nick Foligno's hit on Dion Phanuef last night bares a striking resemblance to Marchand's hit on Salo. Clipping or hip check? Paul Maclean had some interesting commenst on the whole thing, as did Ron Wilson. We'll get to both. Jiri Hudler pulled the Forsberg move last night in a shootout. Are there things in hockey that don't really impress you anymore? Things that make you say “its been done”? We'll read your Tweet responses to this question. | 1/18/12 | Free | View In iTunes |

Backhand Shelf - January 11 2012 | Rob is back today and rarin' to talk about all the great stuff he missed over 5 days of being deathly ill. Today, he and Justin will dicuss, among other things, Halak's return to Montreal last night, and Shawn Thornton’s on-air response to a Vancouver reporter regarding the Bruins/Canucks recent meeting. Pens vs Caps tonight. Can you believe that BOTH of these teams are in danger of missing the playoffs?? The Rangers might ask Wolski and forward Erik Christensen if they’d accept conditioning stints with Connecticut of the AHL as a way to get some game action. Baseball has done this for a long time, but its rare in hockey. Finally, we'll touch on Iginla's 10th 'Gordie Howe Hat Trick' and some other players around the leaugue who could have hat tricks named after them as well. Stay healthy and we'll see you on Friday! | 1/11/12 | Free | View In iTunes |
