The Roots’ third album for Def Jam and ninth studio set, How I Got Over, is the group’s first release since becoming the house band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Crossing paths with the show’s musical guests has fostered collaborations that would not have occurred under any other circumstances. While the album features the likes of My Morning Jacket’s Jim James and Monsters of Folk, there are several less surprising contributions from Little Brother’s Phonte, Dice Raw, P.O.R.N., John Legend, and Jazzyfatnastees’ Mercedes Martinez.

Incredibilo, beautifulissimo, outrageouzzzzzz
Keiner kann sich mit Ihnen messen. The Roots sind einfach genial, sie können alles, zeigen es aber nicht, müssen sie auch nicht. Sie brauchen keine Exkursionen mehr. z.B: wie Flying Lotus' Cosmogramma, auch genial. Sie cruisen in aller Bescheidenheit mit (stil-)sicherem Tempo in Ihrem Hip Hop/Soul/Jazz-Gefährt durch die musikalische Landschaft, nehmen dabei hochkarätige Gäste aus der Hip/Hop und Alternative-Szene mit. Was will man mehr? Roy Ayers' Ubiquity, Donald Byrd's Blackbirds, Gil Scott-Heron, J Dilla meet Joanna Newsom, Dirty Projectors, The Monsters of Folk, I love it. Perfekt für den heissen Sommer.
Überragend!!!
Eine super Platte, The Roots übertreffen sich selbst! Die Mixtur aus Hip-Hop, Soul und Pop stimmt einfach. Anspieltipps aufzuzählen lohnt nicht, es gibt zu viele. Für Jeden, der sie kennt: Kaufen! Für den Rest: unbedingt anhören!
Roots 2010 - besser denn je
Es ist immer wieder verblüffend, dass die Roots es schaffen mich zu überraschen. Mit "How I got over" ist Ihnen wirklich wieder ein absolutes Sahnestück gelungen. Die Platte besticht durch erstklassige Beats und eingängige Hooks. Ich war bereits nach dem ersten Hören gefangen. Zwar ist das Album mit unter 50 Mintuen Spielzeit sehr kurz, dafür fällt kein Song richtig ab. Einfach einlegen und eine knappe Stunde genießen! Absoulte Kaufempfehlung!
