Austalischer Pop vom Feinsten
Eine echte Überraschung dieses Paar, als Vorband von Hurts in der Zitadelle zum ersten Mal wahrgenommen. Ein chaotisch, charmanter Auftritt , tolle Stimmen, eingängige Melodien. Deshalb gleich am nächsten Tag das Album gekauft, ich habe es bei keinem Song bereut. Treibende Stücke wie Beating Like a Drum, Hearts are Jaded entfalten ihren besonderen Zauber durch die Stimme von Eden Boucher, die über den Beats schwebt. Ihre stärkste Seite zeigen Sie jedoch, wenn Sie auch als Duo komplett einen Titel gestalten, wie bei Could this be. Beide Stimmen harmonieren gut miteinander, kaum zu glauben, dass die beiden verheiratet sind.
Tolles Album. Die australische Antwort auf Lady Antebellum würde ich sagen.
What a great album
This album makes me believe in the power of great music to say profound things in simple ways. I really loved the first album from 2008 - it was #1 in our Opel's CD player for months, but it was a little more electric or even new wave than this one, which has just as many great melodies but also more balance and reflection. It sounds great from the start and keeps sounding better with repeated listenings over time. For those who don't know anything about their music, think of the great rock sound and inspiration of U2 paired with the sophistication of Eurythmics. Okay, so those are some old bands, but these guys make music that sounds completely fresh to me, and I've been buying music for, gulp, 30 years. And since it's an actual married couple singing about love and relationships, it gives things an even more personal twist. My favorite tracks are Beating Like a Drum (- yes, when did we start growing old? - ), One in a Million and Say Goodbye, which is maybe the most moving ode to a dying friend/loved one that I have ever heard. My wife's favorite is Without You. I hope that David and Eden have a long career ahead of them; it's going to be fun to see where their enormous talent takes them.
