Albenrezension
The Catholics is an intriguing septet comprised of tenor, trombone, guitar, bass, drums, steel guitar, and percussion. Their second recording has eight originals by bassist Lloyd Swanton and one from saxophonist Sandy Evans. The music ranges from moody ballads to selections with the feel of reggae and some highly rhythmic yet light-toned pieces. The Catholics' catchy music has bits of unexpected humor, is episodic, and is often danceable, but is also quite musical and adventurous in its own way. Simple is an excellent all-round showcase for the band that serves as a perfect introduction to the likable group's music.

Eine hervorragende Mischung
Diese CD vereint die Musikstile aus vielen Teilen der Welt. Insbesondere das Stück "Brothers and Sisters" zeigt wie man mit einer guten Mischung etwas Neues schaffen kann und gleichzeitig die Stile erkennbar hält. Und der Titel passt ebenfalls.
