The desire for spiritual enlightenment is what motivates a Sadhu to become a Sadhu.With the promise of a carefree life devoted to spiritual study, the focus for most holy men and women seeking this independent lifestyle is still popular amongst many adventurous types in India. Primarily joining the brotherhood of Sadhu’s (less than 10% of sadhus are women) is like going back in time, to become harmonious with nature, their guru and each other, while connecting to the Divine with an intuitive call and connection. Wandering Sadhus travel India and Nepal serving, communing and attaining wisdom as to the mysteries of the Divine.

Deborrah began photographing her fiber art/craft book (“The Simple Art of Ribbon Design”, Random House) in the early ‘90’s. Having been a self taught fiber artist and educated as a children’s art teacher has deepened her love for art. This background has given her the inspiration to get out of the studio and into the environment. Having lived in multi cultural environments within the United States and having learned to appreciate the differences within humanity has given her the drive to explore other cultures and religions. Her love for the east Indian culture and specifically Buddhism and Hinduism as experienced in Nepal and India, has given her the inspiration to continue her love of other cultures and religions through photography as her art expression.
”I especially love shooting in India and Nepal because of the numerous religious celebrations where a deep devotion with the Divine can be experienced in age old traditions.” She adds, “ the colors, symbolism and inherent beauty is easy for me to see in India and Nepal to spite the obvious challenges of poverty, difficult conditions and hardships Her people face and experience.”
Having won numerous First Place show awards and Best of Show recognition, she continues to deepen her relationship with her work, her camera and her love for expressing beauty.
