Another wonderful complication

I don't think I can describe this album adequately. Almost nothing I could ever write would do it sufficient justice, but I'll try anyway.

Once again Kate Bush has succeded in creating her own category of music. This album takes you on a journey. From the simplest of simple tunes, where less is certainly more, to huge, breathtaking snowstorms of sound, where sound is swirling all around you like snowflakes. This is like a ballet of sound, or a painting or a movie, where the sound becomes almost visible in your mind. And Kate's voice is as versatile as ever - from the gentlest whisper over the sweetest, sensual purr, to potent song, to the harshest scream. I cannot compare this to anyting I've ever heard before. Kate Bush is so unique, that it would never make sence to try.

Kate Bush has never been easy listening. Well...... OK, on very rare occasions many years ago it has momentarily been known to happen - but certainly not on this album. It is a compilation of various degrees of complication. You have to be patient and let your mind wander.....and whatever you do, DON'T try to make sense of it! This is all about sound, and the pictures and emotions it will put in your head, if you just go with the flow.

This is a work of art. Whether you should call it a painting, or a ballet, or just music, is entirely up to you.

As a girl, Catherine Bush studied piano and violin while attending the St. Joseph's Convent Grammar School in Abbey Wood in South London. She also amused herself playing an organ in the barn behind her parents' house. By the time she was a teenager,...
