Album Review
The Doky Brothers, Vol. 2 pales slightly in comparison to the duo's first release, but the album remains a fine example of contemporary mainstream jazz due to the exceptional playing of pianist Niels Lan Doky and bassist Chris Minh Doky. The pop numbers are occasionally a little sappy or silly, but the originals are melodic and memorable, providing the duo an excellent framework for their exciting solos.

Virtuosity
When this album was released in 1997 it was my first encounter with these two extremely gifted brothers, who are wanted for sessions around the globe. Their first album simply called "Doky Brothers" would have been hard to follow up on if it was not for their range and skill. As well as their capacity to include such jazz legends as Jaco Pastorius, The Brecker Bros., Dianne Reeves, Terri Lynn Carrington, Jeff "Tain" Watts and many others. The brothers also manage to span across genres and include covers from such diverse artists as Michael Jackson to Danish Sanne Salomonsen, and moreover these songs are easily recognised and you find yourself humming along to the music instantly Conclusively, the two brothers have also got wide-ranging "solo" careers, but I do hope that they will team up again at some point in the not too distant future.
