The "circular dance of fashion," Round and round went the carousel with models descending one at a time, in sweet 1960's couture inspired frocks in all manor of pretty pastels. Despite the lavish setup the craftsmanship and construction of the clothes prevailed and is clearly visible in every hyper-adorned dress, with miles and miles of broiderie anglaise in shades of sugary sorbet pastels with exaggerated Peter Pan collars. Sheer organza layered over ostrich feathered dresses helped to tone down the feathers and created an irresistible dreamy effect. Exulting the sweetness and femininity of a woman and her beauty, Jacobs is the pen-ultimate leader of that trend with his latest Louis Vuitton collection. | 3 | VideoPrada spring 2012 Runway Show | Prada Spring 2012 Collection: Milan Italy For more shows visit: www.globalfashionnews.com Presented in High Definition. Miuccia Prada's feminine and flirty knife-pleated dresses with boxy over-sized jackets looked anything but sweet, which is a taboo she wanted to confront and explore with her latest collection. Miuccia's brilliant color combinations of burgundy with cornflower blue, coral and yellow, bottle-green and pastel pink were all revved up with flames and racing stripes as in a ladylike cornflower blue and pale yellow pleated dress with bodice enhancing black stripes or an equally enticing pink, aqua and black number. The models sported greasy, pulled back hair fixed with bobby pins and each look had a knowing grown-up womanly sensuality. There were also playful light hearted screenprints such as 1950s cars with flames on jackets and dresses, leather appliqued skirts and beaded crochet doily motifs resembling stained glass windows. The most desirable coats were made of satin sprinkled with brocade floral embellishments or adorned with jewels along the seams and shoulders then wrapped with faux antique jeweled belts. Miuccia’s styling prowess never ceases to delight. Structured color blocked silk satin swimsuits exude the confidence of a modern day pinup when paired with decadent crystal-encrusted belts, statement earrings and bags, but the jaw-dropping moment came from the 3-D sling-backs with fantastic metallic flamed wings. | 4 | VideoAquilano Rimondi Spring 2012 Runway Show | Aquilano.Rimondi Spring 2012 Collection: Milan, Italy For more shows visit: www.globalfashionnews.com Presented in High Definition Roberto Rimondi and Tomasso Aquilano referenced the Renaissance and the fifteenth-century as a starting point for their spring 2012 collection, capturing and distilling the baroque richness of frescoes from St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome throughout their prints. The Italian duo drew inspiration from Italian couture in the mid 1980s to create their artfully sculpted and molded silhouettes that were trimmed in seafoam green, lavender and taupe. The designers cleverly matched icy pastels with faded sepia toned prints on pearl gray silk and creamy gazar, creating an effect reminiscent of patinaed frescoes with a gilded finish. Their silhouettes consisted of long and lean pencil skirts with shapely, contrasting back panels worn with fitted short sleeved shirts, along with short curvy dresses and shorts which served as a canvas for their elaborate prints. Three dimensional beading on skirts simulated the prints with hand sewn pearls echoing the outlines of a dress. Among the favorites were a selection of ultra romantic full skirt dresses with shaped bodices and panels of pleats that exploded from the neckline or tiered from the waist. Aquilano.Rimondi's exceptional craftsmanship and quality of fabrics highlights the best of Italian artisanal techniques employed in a wholly original way, yet deftly captures the essence of youth and lightness. | 5 | VideoGiorgio Armani Fall 2011 Runway Show | Giorgio Armani Fall 2011 Collection New York, NY February 28, 2011. Presented in High Definition. Giorgio Armani is the master of understated elegance, creating clothes that make women look and feel beautiful, while exuding a tranquil brilliance, which one cannot acquire, but is rather born with. His fall 2011 collection, Boudoir, consisted of a pale palette of blush, rose, nude and camel tones, which represented renewal, before descending into somber grays and blacks, which symbolized eluding from the darkness. The show began with a blush, bell-shaped riding coat with a chenille effect hovered above the ankle and opened from the waist down, revealing a sensuous satin dress. This was just a taste for what was to come, as he exaggerated and experimented with this silhouette throughout the collection. The fullness of the bell-shaped skirt was amplified for daywear, as a textured, black dresscoat swayed down the runway. Transitioning to eveningwear, the silhouette was accentuated in heavily beaded fabrics, fringe trim, and sequined floral embellishments. Armani’s classic jacket was offered in two versions – a nipped waist jacket that flared out into a peplum, or an elongated slim blazer, which rested smoothly over the hip. His trousers for fall were relaxed, cropped and cuffed slightly above the ankle. Most were featured with tunic dresses, representing his signature long, lean silhouette. Accessories included fringed shawls, clutches, stacked bangles, and capelets rendered in fur or layered with delicate organza petals that resembled seashells. The extravagant necklaces, chandelier earrings and vintage brooches were opulent and richly captivating. Lace was overlaid on pumps and boots for day, while crystals illuminated the Elizabethan inspired kitten heels for evening. Schuyler Hames. | 7 | VideoLouis Vuitton S09 Runway show | Louis Vuitton Spring 2009 Collection; Paris, France (October 5, 2008) Presented by Global Fashion News. Saucy Parisienne princesses with an African tribal influence strutted down the runway at the Louis Vuitton Spring 2009 show. The clothes, designed by Marc Jacobs, are a super sexy blend of 1940s glamour and a touch of Josephine Baker’s tongue-in-cheek brilliance. Every look on the catwalk was wrapped, belted or cropped and shown with an abundance of micro-minis, sophisticated wide-legged trousers or naughty little skirts. An fantastic array of multicolored Obi-belts cinched every waist in a combination of metallic python fabric mixes over sparkling sweaters or cropped jackets with peaked shoulders. The swingy movement of the clothes made for a delicious visual feast. Silky, pajamaesque polka dotted trousers were paired with tiny fitted blazers or strapless tops and then piled on with loads of accessories. Luxurious satchel bags in eclectic mix-and-match styles including leopard, python and metallics added to the daring over the top look. Swingy little crepe minis were interlaced with racy panels in the back of dotted net or see through plastic windows - All the better to showcase the new LV underwear. The abundant accessories appeared distinctly African, from the necklaces to chunky wooden bracelets and stunning stiletto’s brimming with feathers and plastic beads collages or adorned with abstract African faces. | 8 | VideoPeter Som S09 Runway show | Peter Som Spring 2009 Collection; New York, USA (September 8, 2008) Presented by Global Fashion News in High Definition. For Spring 09, Peter Som expanded his oeuvre with a slight departure from his prim and proper structured coats and dresses, mixing it up with billowy blouses, wide legged trousers and flowing silk dresses. With a color pallete ranging from neutral sandy tones to rich reds and blues, his vision of a Moroccan oasis came to life on the runway. The collection featured a bevy of short hemlines in an array of neutrals, gorgeous blues and a vibrant orange and red print. Cuffed shorts in sandy desert colors were frequently paired with a structured bustier on top or more relaxed with airy chiffon blouses. Wide leather belts cinched at the waist completed each look. Sexy billowy beach dresses in rich blues and embellished separates appeared racier than anything he’s ever shown before. A fiery red beaded skirt with a pink and orange floral chiffon blouse exemplified Som’s new Bohemian direction. He ended the show with a youthful selection of skirts, dresses and a coat in a gray and white graphic print that showed his capabilities for broadening his look while still pleasing his young sophisticated following. | 9 | VideoLanvin S09 Runway Show | Lanvin Spring 2009 Collection; Paris, France (October 5, 2008) Presented by Global Fashion News. Alber Elbaz’s Spring 2009 Lanvin collection is smoldering hot with sensuous, provocative clothes. His dresses and skirts in alluring jewel tones and prints are draped, pleated and bunched in ingenious ways, creating a stunning sculptural effect that is both glamorous and ultra sexy. Elbaz infuses a couture spirit into his ready-to-wear designs that makes women mad with desire. Despite loosely cut shapes, the defined waist and shorter length creates a distinct femme fatale look accented by bare shoulders artfully swathed in cascades of silk. Tulip skirts are gathered into gentle pouf proportions and paired with gorgeous blouses that are tied casually at the shoulder. And just when we thought that we’d seen the most coveted pieces of the season, he ended the show with an awe inspiring array of bejeweled dresses. Satin and silk gazar in every color from yellow, pink, blue, red, plum, and green is masterfully wrapped around the body. From strapless party numbers in hot pink or tea rose to voluptuous one shoulder dresses in a pastel leopard print or silk gazar whipped up in delectable shades of blue and green with random sprinklings of paillette flowers - The clothes are tres, tres chic. | 10 | VideoZac Posen S09 Runway Show | Zac Posen S09 Collection, New York; USA (September 11, 2008) Presented by Global Fashion News in high definition. Zac Posen’s Spring 2009 show was a fusion of many trends, with the dominant look being that of a more sophisticated woman for his devoted Hollywood clientele. In a departure from his flouncy, ruffled party dresses, Posen opened the show with several ornate 60s style cocktail dresses that featured sculpted padding at the hips. There was chrystal beading, perspex and tribal beading on super short or slightly longer sheaths that might otherwise have been too saccharin-sweet in shades of peach, rose, and pistachio. Fun pieces like a super curvy popcorn knit mini and a pink suede motorcycle jacket over a pastel chiffon slip dress kept the look youthful and edgy. Spring 2009 also marks Zac Posen’s foray into swimwear, where he focused on retro shapes such as sweetheart bandeaus and shirred bodices. Following his pastel color story, Posen then wowed us with red carpet-worthy gowns in a vampy leopard print and a black over nude chiffon cocktail dress with ruching along the spine, which gave off a decidedly gothic vibe. The stand-out piece among these was a black and white lattice pattern gown featuring a fishtail hem and a Victorian collar of gathered chiffon. | 12 | VideoMarc Jacobs S09 Runway Show | Marc Jacobs Spring 2009 Collection; New York, USA (September 8, 2008) Presented by Global Fashion News. The Spring 2009 Marc Jacobs collection was an eclectic compilation of influences from Mary Poppins to Yves St. Laurent’s Ballet Russes collection and the 1920s and 30s dust bowl era. Jacob’s show featured an elaborate compilation of everything you wouldn’t normally mix together, but, it is Marc Jacobs. And only he can break all the rules and get away with it to show us something powerful that is distinctly his own. His fanciful and irreverent combinations of plaid, tweed, leather, metallics, and electrifying colors clashed and co-existed in the most spectacular way to produce riotously colored and lavishly embellished clothes. A capped sleeve shoulder jacket in tweed over a demure plaid blouse, coupled with a metallic brocade skirt was swathed at the waist with a lurex striped obi belt and a playful underskirt trimmed in gold. Jacob Gibson girls dazzled in plaid blouses paired with modern bustle skirts wrapped at the waist with cummerbund belts and topped off with straw boaters. Using a color palette of of electric blue, mustard, gold, bronze, rust and lurex shot fabrics, Jacobs managed to keep the collection fresh and whimsical. His clever styling of relatively modest clothes is the ultimate in contemporary modern chic. Marc Jacobs’ collection proved to be a melting pot of styles and references, which translate loosely into a uniquely American look that resonated perfectly to George Gershwin’s soundtrack of “Rhapsody in Blue.” Gianna Madrini, Style Editor Global Fashion News http://www.globalfashionnews.com | 28 5 09 | Free | View In iTunes |
| 13 | VideoGiambattista Valli S09 Runway Show | Giambattista Valli S09 Collection, Paris France ( October 2, 2008) Presented by Global Fashion News in high definition. Fantastically Romantic best descrobes Giambattista Valli's Spring 2009 Collection. His dramatic and ultra glamorous collection came in waist cinching fitted dresses for day with teacup shaped skirts boosted by crinoline, bateau necklines and three quarter sleeves rendered in luxe silk satin, pleated chiffon and white or black lace overlay for evening. His collection exuded 50s chic, however Giambattista did mot discard his padded and cocoon shapes that are part of his signature look. He simply updated his aerodynamic sheath dresses adding a slight curve at the shoulder with soft padded collars, self matching capes and peplum jackets. Jackets were tied at the waist with shapely bows, while cocoon shaped coats for evening featured thousands of tiny silk chiffon rosettes. A grand finale parade of fairytale wedding gowns in pale nude shades of lilac, cream or beige with corseted bodices and enormous skirts with long flowing trains that swept the runway floated slowly past the audience. The sheer extravagance of Giambattista Valli's cloud-like tulle gowns made up of a thousand meters of tiny silk chiffon rosettes or cascading fingertip pleated ruffles, brought the audience to its feet. An air of mystery only added to the rumor that the designer will soon to be named to design Valentino. | 14 | VideoLacoste S09 Runway Show | Lacoste Spring 2009 Collection; New York, USA (September 6, 2008) Presented by Global Fashion News. Springtime in Provence is the vibe created by Christophe Lemaire for Lacoste's Spring 2009 show. With light, airy designs in neutral shades of sand, mauve, and ocean blue, the mood is breezy and easy to wear. The casually cuffed trousers cinched with braided leather belts and paired with flat leather sandals beg to be worn on an outdoor afternoon stroll. Shirtdresses and dirndl skirts, another summer staple are easily paired over maillots or a crocheted bikini. From subdued and natural, Lemaire then jolted the audience forward in time with an infusion of rompers, bodysuits, and shifts in sherbet-inspired hues such as melon and citron. With coordinating totes and flats, these looks are beach-ready. Fabricated in terry as well as in the label’s signature knit. The pieces represent a younger Lacoste woman with a carefree and sunny disposition. Following his candy-colored confections, Lemaire showed us a mod incarnation of Lacoste's new Red! label of golf-inspired sportswear in black and white accented with kelly green. Shifts and miniskirts alike were shown in graphic checked patterns and paired with a single golf glove and spectator shoes. Lemaire maintains Lacoste’s signature preppy look, but updates the iconic house classics with a new fit and modern cut. | 15 | VideoG Star S09 Runway Show | G Star Spring 2009 Collection; New York, USA ( September 11. 2008) Presented by Global Fashion News in High Definition. Hard edged denim has always been the main event at G-Star, however this season they used their show to highlight the United Nations New Millennium campaign to stop poverty. Alan Cummings and Heather Graham opened the show by outlining the campaigns eight Millennium Development Goals. G-Star’s cutting edge denim was apparent in spades for Spring 2009 in jumpsuits and fitted shorts, along with a bevy of new offerings. Designer Pierre Morisset incorporated lightweight wool in nicely cut blazers and vests and silk jersey dresses printed in vividly colored pixelated abstract prints. Hemlines were ultra short in micro mini skirts, shorts, rompers and dresses. For the finale, models in wonderfully belted trench coats, fingerless gloves and deeply cut denim vests stood on hydraulically raised platforms, while an army of other models paraded below them showcasing the entire breadth of G-Star’s collection. | 16 | VideoRodarte F08 Runway show | Rodarte Fall 2008 Collection; New York, USA. (February 5, 2007) Presented by Global Fashion News in High definition. The Mulleavy sister's otherworldly creations continue to mesmerize and delight us. For fall their obsession with Asia continues, with the designers seeking inspiration from an unlikely source, Japanese horror films. The result was a spectacular combination of translucent layering and the most beautiful punk ballerina skirt dresses and elegant degrade gowns you’ve ever seen. There were striking gauzy "slasher" dresses in black, white and blood red representing the gothic romance of Hayao Miyazaki's Studio Ghibli films and pale nude dresses of sheer nothingness embroidered with braided yarn. Other pieces in the collection included lighter than air, full-skirt gossamer cocktail pieces, fitted coats, sexed-up zip pocket pants paired with gauzy multicolored sweaters, each made of twenty different types of yarn. All worn with super high, 6 inch Christian Louboutin Mary Janes with spiked studs and straps that wrapped around the ankle and left the models teetering, adding to the ballerina effect. Their almost neurotic obssession with layering and exquisite craftsmanship is their calling card and it’s hard not to fall for a fairytale spun by Kate and Laura Mulleavy. - Gianna Madrini, Style Editor, Global Fashion News. http://www.globalfashionnews.com/ | 19 12 08 | Free | View In iTunes |
| 17 | VideoAlexander McQueen F08 Runway Show | Alexander McQueen Fall 2008 Runway; Paris, France. ( February 29, 2008) For Fall Alexander Mcqueen handed his spellbound audience a beautiful fashion fairy tale of a “Girl in Tree” who meets a prince and transforms into a queen. Inspired by British Colonialism, McQueen created the loveliest British and Indian inspired couture dresses imaginable stirring them into an incredible fashion fantasy. References to Queen Victoria, the Duke of Wellington and the Indian empire were whipped into ballerina dance dresses. Each dress was more exquisite than the last as in a crinolined strapless white chiffon dress with delicate black lace overlay embroidered with a pair of delicate peacocks whose beaks met at the neckline with their tail feathers fanning out over ivory tulle. His colonial velvets and ermine coats were regal beyond belief interspersed with impeccably tailored and rigorously cut military tailcoats and jackets worn with high neck blouses or over dresses. A strapless empire dress in white chiffon fit for a princess was wrapped and knotted around the body with jewels dripping from the model’s forehead. Alexander McQueen's show was breathtaking, not only in it's beauty, but it's excellence. It undoubtedly surpassed anything I’ve ever seen. The music alone was heaven, blending Mozart, Hadyn and Nirvana as the backdrop. McQueen’s brilliance as a designer is unmatched and his star has never shone more brightly than in his utterly romantic and stunning Fall 2008 collection. - Gianna Madrini, Style Editor, Global Fashion News. | 19 12 08 | Free | View In iTunes |
| 18 | VideoBurberry F08 Runway Show | Burberry Fall 2008 Runway; Milan Italy. ( February, 2008) Presented by Global Fashion News. Christopher Bailey's gorgeous fall//winter collection revolved almost entirely around his extraordinary coats, in rich, luxe couture-like fabrics with a new sense of volume and proportion. Guided by a poetic romance that was influenced by British artist L.S. Lowry, Bailey’s rich palette of jewel tone colors in olive, emerald and moss, coppery browns, amethyst, and kingfisher blue ushered in new kind of winter dressing that smart, chic and uniquely modern. His coats came in every style from rounded shoulder coats to cocoon shapes and over sized trench coats rendered in extravagant fabrics of cashmere, felted boucle wool, fur and leather in curvy shapes with gathered yokes and raglan sleeves. Coats aside Bailey's other pieces were equally significant like a tiered round neck shift dress, tulip dresses with puffed sleeves or a baby-doll tunic worn over skinny, silk, trumpet flared trousers and towering platform shoes. Topping off the clothes were a number of must-have accessories including fingerless smoking gloves, the coolest knitted hats and spectacular chunky oversized necklaces of cut glass. The incredible jewelry alone leads me to believe that statement jewelry will soon replace handbags as the must have accessory for Fall 2008 and into Spring 2009. - Gianna Madrini, Style Editor, Global Fashion News | 19 12 08 | Free | View In iTunes |
| 19 | VideoPrada F08 Runway Show | Prada Fall 2008 Runway; Milan Italy. ( February, 2008) Presented by Global Fashion News. Miuccia Prada's Femme Fatale Fall 2008 collection is intensely feminine and dignified with a wicked subversive visual element. Prada stripped down her designs to a select few shapes using Guipure Swiss lace to create a long lean silhouette punctuated by the transparency of the lace worn unlined for the catwalk. Pale colored body suits fill in the space between different cotton and or wool Guipure lace of considerable weight, mixed at times with lighter, finer lace. The texture of the lace does all the talking - Using just two skirts and a shirt to change the proportions between A-Line skirts or high waisted pencil skirts. All worn with fine turtlenecks and collarless cropped jackets. Hips are exaggerated with detachable padded belts. "I wanted to do minimal, something that was feminine and strong - but in the end, not so sexy” Prada explains. The sexually charged tension between being covered up and revealing what’s underneath made for a powerful presentation. It was a gorgeous feast of lace and one of my favorite top 10 collections for fall 2008 says Global Fashion News Style Editor, Gianna Madrini. | 19 12 08 | Free | View In iTunes |
| 20 | VideoGucci F08 Runway Show | Gucci Fall 2008 Runway; Milan, Italy. (February 2, 2008) Presented by Global Fashion News. Frida Giannini's super-hot Autumn/Winter collection for Gucci featured a bevy of sexy Rock N’ Roll chicks wearing richly printed tunics, heavy metal hand-tooled hip-belts and tight, skinny trousers tucked into fringed riding boots. The luxurious Boho-Deluxe look resembles an iconic early 1970s Anita Pallenberg, former girlfriend of Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards. Rich in folkloric references, the silk tunics with metallic embroidery in paisley prints from Russia and Turkmenistan work equally well as mini dresses. Richly layered accessories made up of exceptional must-have pieces and stylish snug fur jackets in Lynx, Fox and Mongolian lamb had us yearning to look like the models in the show. The most covetable coats were the tapestry and kilim coats in an eclectic pattern of silk and velvet patchwork along with a number of cropped military style stud-embellished vests and shearling coats. It was all topped off with gold-chain bracelets, heart-shaped neckpieces, flying leather fringes on hobo shoulder bags, and the most posh "Babushka" carpet bag you've ever seen.
